Is it me ?

But sim is for a ROUTER so can't get code.
If you use the Huawei app you can read any SMS messages your sim receives.

Oh heck, that's not good.

I've just bought one of those 120gb EE sims from Argos, hope it works.

The reason for buying EE is that it works on the remote Scottish islands where others don't have a signal. There are other sites in England where we have had no Voda/O2 signal but EE worked.
Just broke out the Argos EE 120gb sim, all working perfectly 🚐🏕️📱

Ee update. SO.
STILL NOT CONNECTED. 45 mins in total on phone to 3 different people.
All lovely people I may add. Issue has now been referred to Sophia's team who will Manually add my sim to my account....within 3 working days.....
Apparently it's all because I don't have a phone contract with ee....
I quote the blurb on the sim

"Just pop it in to your laptop or device, link it to your account and you are good to go"

They say. Ah. I say. Thankyou for your time. I'll see you in 3 days....

Can I ask, did you put your sim in a phone ? And do you have a contract with EE ?
I'm STILL trying to sort this out !

No, just a Mifi thing.

No contract, just purchased from Argos and bunged it in.

I did set up an EE account for it, I can see how much data is left.

Do you have a spare phone or a tablet with a SIM card slot? Can you send a text to the number to see if it works?

If all else fails I'd take it back to Argos.

Thanks. I've now written a 2 page saga on this to Ee customer service ...I did try it in my tablet but still can't connect. We can use my phone as a hotspot now but it's become A POINT OF PRINCIPLE now. ...dog with a bone etc.....

When purchasing sim cards in Spain I noticed the guy would activate it by putting it in a phone first. Then he transferred it to my mifi. I've done this with my last two ee Sims. Also waited a couple of minutes before it turned green on mifi. Hope this helps.

So after trips to four different retail places and an email to Morrisons HQ, we managed to buy a 6kg calor cylinder without exchanging.
Thus full of optimism we bought an Ee sim from Argos for our Huawei router and spent the afternoon alternately pressing buttons and shrieking .
Phoned Ee. They say Sim has been cancelled. Old stock. Number recycled.
Got refund from Argos. Went to Ee shop. They say we don't do that have you tried Argos ?
Sigh.
I just want to buy a 120gb data only pay up front sim. To work in the UK. Not on a monthly contract. That's not REALLY asking too much is it ?
Reaching for the gin bottle...
amazon.co.uk look up scancom EE sims. You'll likely get a years service prepaid for the price of a month of 120gb in a shop. There is no contract it's a one off payment for a sim valid for a year with 40,80, 120gb or more typically (we have a couple of unlimited (600gb limit) ones for £199 for 2 years, working out at under £10 a month (and you get 600Gb every month).. We've been running scancom EE sims since 2018 ish now, they really are a (uk only) deal that can't be beat (I have 2 of them in the familys static units, and one in the motorhome).

Should add the above come activated, just put in router and they work, delivery same day to certain postcodes too. It's WHY I reccomend them on here, no having to deal with EE customer service at all, they arrive pre-done, ready to go.

Thanks so much. I was starting to lose hope...

You also get the monthly amount every monht, it resets on first of month.

Honestly, its one of reasons I reccomend them on here, they are so much better than buying from EE direct. Even Three direct is a hassle these days. Should add they were also doing Three sims at start of year for £40 which gave 240Gb a month until December 2026 a month or two ago, so what under £2 a month for 240Gb a month. We keep both an EE and a Three in the van due to it being quite cost effective for UK right now (but we switch when going into EU).

Almost went for one of those, just seemed a bit much for our occasional usage.

The 120Gb (when it works!) is less than a fiver a month over the 12 months, but we might only use it 4 or 5 times in that year.

But invaluable for the Scottish Islands.
