buying soon
Hi… I put this question on the insurance section but don’t know if it gets looked at much by members so I thought I’d stick it on here ….
Hi… Just waiting for the Hymer to go on to Spanish plates.. Has anyone got any recommendations for a good insurance company in Spain. I need decent windscreen cover as it’s an A class.

I've used Alliance since 2003 , on various motorhomes and my motor scooter.

We use a broker here in Las Palmas and he got us insured through Generali. Last year we paid €650 fully comp with a €600 excess. This year I decided not to go fully comp and went for third party extended as they call it. So third party, fire, theft, windows, break down with coverage for all of the EU, the UK and a few other countries. All for €417 which I thought was good.

I was going to say "how old is it?" but as you have reregistered it will be classed as "new" so entitled to full comp if you want it.
I use Axa.
These are specialists.

Our motorhome is with Turners in Javea we get on well with them and cover is with Liberty Seguros and has been since 2018, we have shopped around every year and never get better quotes. 😁

We use Mark Petrie brokers in Javea port for our car and insurance cover changes every year as he finds cheaper insurance, but he can't even match our motorhome insurance with the same cover / terms. 🤔 Bob.

Liberty Seguros for us, fully comp, €450 excess, €582 this year, up over €80 on the previous year ... will be changing next time, methinks. We also use Turners brokerage, but for the car ...

Ibex were good for my old 2021 van. Fully comp 390€ at a 68k€ valuation. Insuranceinspain for my new van as it's value is over 100k€.
Ibex wanted 4k€ as it was over 100k€, it would have been a lot cheaper if the van was under 100k€. I paid 980€ with insuranceinspain.

All insurance has gone up this year, probably all the losses with flooding, but your taking a massive risk not having fully comp on your motorhome for the sake of a couple of hundred euros, if it was something worth 2 or 3 thousand you could afford to loose it. 🤔 but not a motorhome if it was me I'd be gutted. 😮‍💨 Bob.

Well no, not really. The only difference is self done damage and during the year I have done that while learning driving a large vehicle. The damage I already did was not claimed on the insurance, rather I paid it myself. Reason being if I claim it on the insurance my policy increases the next year, so I decided not to. All insurance is a scam, as we know, so why give them more?

If over 10/12 years old you basically cannot change companies as they will not offer full comp.same with all vehicles. If you buy one that is over that age T,P,f,& T is all that will be offered yet if I buy a vehicle elsewhere in europe & re-register it here then it is classed as "new" & you will be offered full comp:LOL:

I'm agonising over this at the moment. Mine is a converted van that is homologated yet with the existing insurance company,Axa,they will not cover the equipment inside but the van is covered full comp whilst circulating.
I did get a quote from Zalba last year but they will only offer TPF&T +glass .
Went to see my broker this morning & left it with him to see whether he can find something but I doubt it.

Having said that the last coachbuilt van was too old to be able to get Full comp so I ran that for 5 years & 120,000kms all over europe & Uk. Do I feel lucky?

For me the problem is being hit by an uninsured driver? Like you ,& even when I lived in the UK; i would never claim for my own stupidity damage.

The insurance consortium exists for that reason, they will cover you if the 'dickhead' has no insurance.
