Is it just my imagination or are things happening earlier than normal this year?
For example, I've seen a lot holly berries, these ones are even beginning to turn red, I doubt they will last to Christmas.
In the background of that shot can be seen a lot of beech mast, the nuts produced by the beech tree.
On today's walk I spotted several species of fungi, including a field mushroom. This yellow one goes by several English names, one is Ochre Brittlegill and it's edible - as the local slugs have discovered, although this isn't a good guide - slugs will happily munch on the deadly poisonous ones too.
Blackberries are really ripening quickly after the recent rain.
When the sun came out the butterflies had a good flutter.
