Hi all - I’m on my way to Anglesey in my VW camper (not sure whether it qualifies as a motor home, but I love this forum and learn lots of stuff!). Never been before and will be camping near Newborough as I love looking for native orchids. Are there any unmissable places or things to do? I’m hoping to find a good seafood shack (not Michelin style or price!) and just wander around and explore with my two whippets - so tend to avoid places where I can’t take them.

Really interested in this, I shall be there next week with my cocker spaniel staying at CAMC no facilities site. All ideas welcome please.

Watch out for the haters who love to get bad stories in the North Wales News. Make sure to visit Benllech.

The Sea Shanty in Trearddur Bay for Lunch and Dylans in Menai for lunch.
Just off Anglesey is Penrhyn Castle well worth a visit.

Penmon Point and lighthouse is one of my favourite places. Overlooking Puffin island and the Great Orme in the distance.

South Stack RSPB and lighthouse with good walks over the hill to North Stack, the views especially at Sunset can be spectacular 😁😁

viewing area at RAF Valley to watch the training aircraft doing circuits and bumps.

You can overnight here but not cheap. No facilities and it’s a toll both ways, about £25 I think.

It was worth it though as it was a beautiful place. 👍

Pili Palas nature world LL59 5RP
Beaumaris castle (lots of parking but still gets full)
Treaddur bay near Holyhead.

Rhosneigr South of RAF Valley has a great bay for Kite and normal surfing, with a rental shop and school for gear training. Great beaches, bars and food.

Very atmospheric.
Love Anglesey especially around the Moelfre area.
Used to camp there most bank Holidays with the scouts. Badly stung by hornets 1 year 14 stings on my legs as I sat with my feet in a nest.

If you want to try very good food a lovely beach and probably see Choughs I'd have a look at Church Bay there is sea food restaurant there The Lobster Pot which is a bit expensive, but better I think is the little Wave Crest Cafe overlooking the sea there food is outstanding. Not open every day but Google would tell you when it's open.
You are also right on the costal path with some beautiful wild flowers.
One of our favourite parts of Anglesey.

Not a mention of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll
Tourist trap but you have to get the pictures if not the t-shirt

Private property, a bit dangerous getting down.

Lots of stunning places, Moelfre is a one pub village, really good food at reasonable prices, pick up the coastal path, views to die for, just a lovely place to spend a few hours
Bull bay close to Amlwch, another place worth a visit, wherever you get too, I’m sue you’ll love it

Well we had a lovely walk at Newborough/Llandwyn this morning. Rather busy and very hot for my elderly whippet, but enjoyed a walk through the pines to the bottom of Ynys Llandwyn. Campsite is Ty Croes Vineyard and Camping just outside Newborough - seems lovely and peaceful and reasonably priced considering it’s coastal position. Plenty of exploring to do tomorrow! Thanks for all the great suggestions.
