How the hell do these come apart, as you can see, they need a bit of tlc but cannot see how to get them apart???

Same mirrors, same problem but I took the easy road, cleaned them up without removing, rubbed down with wet and dry, then hand painted with Hammerite smooth satin back
That was a year ago and still look fine

Give them a good thump underneath and they should slide up and off.

Hammer technique: get a helper to rest a lump hammer on top of the body bracket then use another lump hammer to hit the mirror bracket from below. Use thin cardboard, if anything, to protect the bracket from the hammer blow.Mmm still solid
Just in case I will add that half the black bracket stays on the van

I you want them off that badly it looks like you might have to remove them from the inside of the van and then get the bracket in a vice or something so you can give it a smack without the van attached.Mmm both bits still on, was hoping to get them off and spray paint but it looks like that's not going to happen so on to plan b
