Give them a good thump underneath and they should slide up and off.

Ours are a bit newer but come off with the heel of my hand but you could try a block of wood and a firm but not too heavy smack with a hammer(y)

Just in case I will add that half the black bracket stays on the van:LOL:

Mmm still solid:confused:
Hammer technique: get a helper to rest a lump hammer on top of the body bracket then use another lump hammer to hit the mirror bracket from below. Use thin cardboard, if anything, to protect the bracket from the hammer blow.

Mmm both bits still on, was hoping to get them off and spray paint but it looks like that's not going to happen so on to plan b:)

Buy a newer Hymer with none tatty mirrors ;)
I you want them off that badly it looks like you might have to remove them from the inside of the van and then get the bracket in a vice or something so you can give it a smack without the van attached.

Or buy @Robert Clark 's Carthago(y)

Same mirrors, same problem but I took the easy road, cleaned them up without removing, rubbed down with wet and dry, then hand painted with Hammerite smooth satin back

That was a year ago and still look fine

Thanks for that,(y) that did work in the end but had to use a sledge on the top:confused: and lump on the bottom, not easy when the top is only 15mm thick:confused: will put some copper ease on when I put them back together, hopefully that will stop them fusing together:)
