Low Profile Hymer CL 554
Exp
Since May 2014
can anyone tell me what you get with a new hymer? I mean things like a fire extinguisher, power lead etc?

Ask the dealer all different.
You don't get an egg on yer bacon butty unless you ask for it!

I don't think you'll get a power lead or a fire extinguisher in a German van unless you ask

Its a hymer CL 554. Couldn't find them and just wondered. Our chaussn came with them and just assumed. Cant find the grill pan so will ask about the the others as well.

Our Autotrail came with an umbrella.
Have only had to use it OUTSIDE so far. :D

The Hymer comes with a very useful shoe horn, fitted to the inside of the wardrobe :D:D:D.

Ours was new in Feb this year and there was no spare wheel, extinguisher or hook up lead, however I pushed on the deal and got foc extras of bike rack, tow bar, satellite dome plus 120 w solar panel at cost.
A jack/wheelbrace pack and tyre inflator were included.

The person handing it over to us said he thought it was a shoe horn. I said that there has been much discussion on the matter and on end of it appears to be used for the heki window. :) He was pleased that at least his shoe horn theory was correct.

Its a combination oven and grill tec tower. So no grill pan

Ours in a tec tower too. No grill pan in ours either, just a wire shelf and a tray in the bottom.

If your grill is as good as ours I wouldn't worry about the grill pan. Our grill is diabolical. Not capable of doing toast. Oven not too bad though but only for warming things up (pies etc), not for any serious cooking. Perhaps it's just mine that's poor.

Mike

Our previous van had a grill they are rubbish. But thought it should have something. The oven is idle for warming stuff as you say not interested in serious cooking on holiday :D

We got an oven tray and wirework for a tec tower with our Hymer, but we had a smev oven! I gave it away at the bring & buy a couple of years back. We did get 8 load eyes (or whatever they are called) in the garage.

Ours came with a slide out metal tray and a slide out wire rack
So did ours. (y)

But no fire extinguisher, smoke alarm or hook up lead, until the dealer chucked a new lead in the garage at hand over. Now got three hook up cables so can beat some of the French with their long cables. :D:D

Richard

We got seat belts with ours.(y)

Having a lightweight or maybe a cheapskate Exsis didn't get the shoehorn or the first aid kit that came with the last Hymer.

Both vans we have had with a Tec tower found the best thing to do with the tray is throw it, only inhibits air circulation in what is already a crap oven.:)

We've been pleased with our Tec Tower
It's good at baking 'part baked' bread
We've also used it to do baked potatoes, pizza and lasagna
It's nowhere near as good as our Aga at home, but it's been pretty good at getting upto temperature and maintaining it

No. That's with swift and autotrails mostly. :)

Urban myth born out of snobbery, Tonka?
We have a 16year old Bessacar, snuff dry.
Never heard of damp Swift etc. vans / caravans till I came on here.
Many posts on here about damp Hymers.
Makes you wonder?

I had a brand new Bessie (2015)
Leaked like a sieve
Glad to be rid - reminded me of 1970's British cars.
Overpriced crap

I think mainly on roof light mastic drying out on older models, we had a leak on our last one last year which was a 2003 B544 but easily fixed .
