Decided to pop to a local booty for a mooch seeing as how the sun's out. Wandering around thinking it was crappy until..... what's that.....?

Sitting under someone's table.....a new looking 110AH Neptune Leisure battery with nary a smudge of dust on it. Waiting for the old "Give me 50 quid and you can have it" line I just asked and the price?

£20!

Get in!.. Just put it on a charger and it shows as being fully charged already.
Was a 20 quid punt but looks like it paid off.

i have just changed both my 110ah leisure batterys, both old ones look like new,and sit at 12.6 volts, but are 7 years old and tired, might car boot them out a £20 a pop.

They are worth about £15 for scrap!

PS I have two 110Ah Powerline leisure batteries ( new March 2013) which I am removing this week to be replaced with larger capacity ones .... £35 each or £60 both.

That's what I thought regarding the scrap value as well.

I've been looking on line this week to replace the two I've got so worse comes to the worse I'll take all 3 to the scrappy and get 40 to 50 quid for them anyway.

The way I look at is if it's fine I've saved £100 if it's not I've lost a fiver.

Didn't know there was a scrap value of £15 from old batteries, we have a load of big, gel filled, back-up batteries, easy the size of MH batteries at work, been sitting round for years.

@icantremember If no one else wants them and if you are going to be at Jaws's Thetford Bash, I'll take them off your hands!

Well I wired the inverter onto it at 5 o'clock, plugged the 17 inch TV and dvd player into the inverter and it's still humming happily away and the TV picture is fine. So fingers cross. Been three and a half hours.

Been 4 hours now. Anybody know how much juice a 17 inch TV running on mains uses? How long would you expect to get out of a fully charged 110 AH leisure battery if the battery was OK?

That's not enough. How about £90 each? :)

Well it's 11 o'clock so that's 6 hours continuous now..........

Turning it off now. By my watch that's 7+ hours straight through running a TV on an inverter.

Looks like a good 25 quid spent!
