Our M/H insurance is due to expire at midnight 18th August. So 4 weeks before I phoned up AIB to ask when I would be getting my renewal quote - "2 weeks before renewal so you'll have to wait" I'm told by some very abrupt guy on the phone.
So Friday (11 days before expiry) and I'm reading through the small print on the insurance documents - yes, I know it's a bit late now! Oh! Look! If I don't contact them to say that I'm unhappy with the quote they will automatically renew my insurance don't think so!
Friday teatime I fire off an email requesting my renewal premium, and specifically refusing to have my insurance renewed without my permission. Plus asking for an email confirming my instructions had been received.
Monday afternoon and still waiting ...

When we decided to part-ex our van I phoned up Friday morning for a quote, and Leah told me that the insuring company would have to be contacted and she would phone me back. I pottered about around the house waiting for the call and eventually phoned AIB at 17.30 (as they close at 18.00) only to get a recorded message to say that "the office is now closed" Saturday morning phoned them and got Leah again "How can I help?" and I sez "I'm still waiting for my call back" - so I got the figure to change over, but not picking up van until Tuesday so keep the figure on my file.
Tuesday comes - Jeff takes van for final test drive and fill up with fuel whilst I phone AIB to arrange the change over in insurance. Phone answered by some guy who tells me that Leah will have to handle the change over and she is busy but he will get here to phone me back. 25 minutes later and I phone them again, "hasn't she called you yet? I will make sure she calls you" Another 15 minutes later and I phone again and insist that he handles the change over and charging my debit card with the difference.

Just know that I won't be renewing with AIB even if they give me a brilliant renewal quote.
