Thanks for that. It is version 1607 apparently, I've just checked on mine and I still have 1511 - so perhaps something will happen soon. It is running slowly but I thought that was because I was backing up all my photographs - I've sent sixty odd Gb up into the clouds over the last few days!If you are wondering why your pc is slow or where all your date allowance has gone there is a big win 10 update being downloaded and installed.

That is never going to happen because there are goodness knows how many more real world applications written for Windows than there are for Linux. One might say that if only those on Linux would develop a practical range of applications then they might eventually start to achieve a larger market share. If only those on Windows would/could try out a proper OS that is based on Unix. I don't care which one, Linux or OS/X are both fine. But please everyone stop giving MS money and they may eventually learn how to write a decent OS.
I bought a laptop last year that came with windows 8.x. I don't use the laptop much but when I do need to use it I don't want to have to deal with 100's of MB's of downloaded updates. 10+ applications nagging to be updated and what usually ends up as an hour or more waiting before I can can actually use the laptop. Then just as I am starting work it wants to reboot. Then to cap it off it nags the hell out of me to upgrade to Windows 10..
It was so bad that even for a computer I use very rarely I decided to put the 30 minutes in to upgrade it to Linux. I hadn't had Microsofts software on any of my systems for well over a decade. This brief intrusion of MS into my life makes me wonder how they are still in business. It is the most God awful OS ever. If only those on Windows would/could try out a proper OS that is based on Unix. I don't care which one, Linux or OS/X are both fine. But please everyone stop giving MS money and they may eventually learn how to write a decent OS.

Well that was easy enough. On the Vivobook which I use in the van I've had to download the update manually using the Learn More route as described above (it is currently downloading).

Given it is that old it may be worth checking on device drivers for older components.HP laptop all done with no problem 2x desktops done ok, one other, the first one still u/s so will format and start again it was xp then win7 then win 8.1 then win10 so proberbly best to clean it all up.
