I got into trouble when I started work in the north east 25 years ago, a group talking and someone was saying/bragging they could do this/could go that, I said “ Never you c u n t do that, never you c u n t

Anyway I got reported for swearing, I hadn’t a clue what they were talking about, I was never swearing I said, anyway it got thrown out when the investigating officer spoke to me and heard my accent before it went any further.

Enjoy your day on the dark side 🙃

Two sayings I remember:

"E, I'll go t foot of our stairs"
"Tha father loves you more than ya mother"

After my mum died, my bother wanted to get her headstone engraved.
"Lord, she were Thine"

A week later he went to the stone mason and was aghast to read
"Lord, she were thin"

"You've missed out the "E", ya daft bugger"

OK said the store mason, come back next week.

We all picked up the headstone and read
"Lord, E she were thin"

Happy Yorkshire Day.....

I’m a true Lancastrian, married twice to Yorkshire girls who I met whilst doing missionary work. Took them a while to get accustomed to electric lights, running water, flush toilets and carpets but we got there eventually. Fortunately the current Mrs H doesn’t read MHF.

Muffins in Oldham. I know, we Roughyeds are a bit odd. It's the strain of being a border town garrison to keep the eastern tribes out
