Anyone visiting York and uses a blue badge to park.. DONT
For reasons known only to York council, though they say it's an anti terrorism precaution o_O, they have suspended the use of blue badges on footstreets which ,presumably, means city center Streets between certain daytime hours (can't remember the times ).
A local disabled action group is asking for crowdfunding to take the council to court under discrimination grounds to get it reversed.

The council recently decided to make the temporary barriers permanent and are considering electric buses to transport people who would require them. As has been said a disabled group is campaigning against the decisions.

Don’t expect York council to rethink. It doesn’t respond to popular pressure no matter how sensible it would be to do so. The new Scarborough bridge, used by loads of pedestrians and cyclists to get to the station offering a considerable saving in time and distance, is locked at 22:30 when there are loads of trains arriving after that time. 😡

Bournemouth Christchurch & Poole council are trying hard to ensure that Blue badge holders can only use them in conjunction with a local permit, renewed yearly. God only knows what will happen when the tourists come back and try parking
