As per the title has the old problem with water entering the engine compartment and rusting the injectors and soaking the fuse box been fixed in the X290?

Strange you should post that, today I have been out resealing ours.

When I picked up the van new, noticed seal at the bottom of the window lifting on one side, dealer resealed and I went on my way.

Looking on the Ducato forum it seems it a common problem and the best fix is a length of insulation tape along joint of window and scuttle.

First one has lasted two years so not to bad a task and unless your told it's there not noticeable.

Ours has got 3 big drains plus a big plastic engine cover.

The middle drain of ours (2017) had blocked up with leaves, had to blow the blockage out to get the scuttle draining correctly

I reckon it's a big improvement on the design of the X250. (y)

I made up some caps for mine from plastic mesh wrapped into a cylinder the same diameter as the top section of the drain holes and pinched together at the top with a cable tie. They sit about an inch proud of the scuttle and stop leaves and debris falling or washing into the drain tubing. I just pull them out periodically, rinse them and put them back (y)

I use this method too. Half a dishwashing plastic scrub thingy. Stops all the debris blocking the holes. On an X290.

I made some 'plugs' from cross-drilled 22mm Polypipe I had spare that sit in the 3 holes and stop the leaves blocking them up - seems a common type of solution. Did that last year as autumn started. Not sure why Peugeot/Fiat don't just put a flat mesh grill over the top of it all - perhaps delivery vans don't sit still long enough to collect leaves.

Thank you all.
Looks like a little bit more fettling to do.

If you could post some pictures that would be most appreciated

Yeah likewise. Been fiddleing about but a pic would be good

Same as my reply to Deneb , any pictures would be great
Sorry first one really fuzzy, but I’m sure you get the idea. They’ve never come out on the move and actually you cannot see them unless you go up to windscreen and look down. I unroll the dishwash scrunchie and cut in half the roll up again so it has less bulk. I first came across this trick with someone who was using a stainless steel one but mine go rusty.

Here you go. There is a lip inside the drain holes a short distance from the scuttle panel, where the tube narrows, so the bottom of the "filter" rests on the lip and it can't fall down the tube. Although they look like they sit quite a way proud of the panel, they are lower than the bonnet line, and if they were to sit too low the mesh would get blocked with crud, which would defeat the object of the drain tubes. I just pull them out and ruinse them with water from time to time to get the build up of silt and debris out of the mesh.

It's just a different approach. I bet yours works just as well, but as a man I thought about what I could make rather than have I got any plastic dishwashing thingies

It took me about 5 minutes with a pair of scissors and some cable ties once I'd got the idea (y)
