Mine never had a cover

We have had three Fiat ducato based vans starting in 2013 all new 1 Autotrail and two Hymers and none have had a battery cover like that shown
What a great forum this is eight years on and the info is still as available and useful now as it was then

If you have a cab radio that has a secure code have it to hand before you start
If your alarm has special instruction for resetting? either have the instructions or contact the supplier/installer

I encountered no problems and I had a residual voltage feeding back to the cab due to a Sterling BtoB being installed.

Be absolutely sure you have the correct replacement battery! physical size capacity and terminal configuration.

Remove the cab carpet and there is the floor panel with coin turn fixings a 50p piece is good, just half a turn on each

Now you have the battery box cover, just remove the two nearest 13mm bolts.
The lid hinges up and then pull it away from the hinges towards you.

This is what you will find

Now remove the battery clamp 13mm nut

Now disconnect the Negative clamp, no spanner needed here but best to remove the cable out of the way altogether by removing the 13mm bolt to the chassis also.

Now remove the terminal cover at the +ve end

Remove these two screws and the red plastic doobree lol

Then slacken the +ve clamp nut 10mm ring spanner and lift the lot clear

Pull out the old battery

Present the new one

Be sure to remove both transit plugs

Reverse the whole procedure Amen

EDIT this is a left hand drive vehicle so do not be confused by that.

Hope you can help. I am looking at getting a new cab battery, but have an alarm which is run off that battery, which was mentioned?
My issue is whether I take the old battery off and hope the alarm does not go off. Other than that, I have a good system to provide the cab battery if the battery fails, used for a Jump Starter. The alarm is fixed in the vehicle battery under the steering wheel to the right of the fuse board, if that helps.

Just disarm your alarm whilst changing the battery

I changed my battery the other day,Fiat Ducato 2.8jtd 2002,everything was ok even the radio was ok.

I would if I had the knowledge to do so. I don't even know what make it is. I just know that it's on somewhere on the van, so 'taking it off or disabling it. I am not aware of how to do so or what make it is.. And linked up from the alarm is fixed in the vehicle battery under the steering wheel to the right of the fuse board; and that's it.

Can you give me some idea of how to do so....

Is it a vehicle security alarm? If it is you should have a small fob on your key ring to arm/disarm or are you talking about a tracker in case of theft if that the case I would just change the battery and await a call from the monitoring company if don’t have any documents or info about it you probably don’t have a subscription? So possibly won’t work anyway

To avoid any problems with spiked or corrupted ECUs there are number of precautions to be taken. The SRS ECU (airbag), in particular, seems fairly prone to this and damage is often blamed on incorrect battery disconnection or jump starting...

Using a second battery on the jump start points is a way around your prediciment.
