I'm a newbie
If I can't fix my existing rear view camera I'm thinking of installing a wireless system are they any good?

In my experience they are useless. Even the WiFi one I bought wouldn't connect, and when it did there was a delay.. The last feature you want on a reversing camera ?

I thought the first thread failed, guess I didn't allow enough time for it to register, sorry !

if it's anything like my camera
it was water in it
replacing it cost me £12.50p plus couple of hours fiddling

This is my existing monitor which I think has failed, it looks similar if not identical to currant models but I have no makers name to go by. Do you think the connections would be the same if I bought a similar model, If there was an outlet near me which there isn't I could have it tested. The reason I think its failed is I'm not getting anything on the screen ie its not going blue and saying no signal.

I had a wireless one with my 7.5 metre caravan. Worked really well BUT you need one with a repeater unit to boost the signal

Parking cameras. Co.uk Is the man, very knowledgable
Have a wired one in the MH ... would not be without it

Duck Truck The camera set up I have is a duel system, one facing horizontal down the road the other towards the bumper, both cameras have independent cables that disappear into the bodywork. When you replaced your camera did you have to find something compatible or are the connections all of a muchness.

Can't guarantee the connector plugs are the same across different suppliers - DRW Electronics chatted with me about this.

I have a garmin in wireless camera which connects to the garmin satnav fitted low down at number plate height, and it is great, no lost signal or fuzzy images. I also have a hard wired camera which goes to the radio/nav screen in the centre console. When reversing I only use the garmin view now as the screen is clearer and doesn’t get reflections

I have a wireless set up that works well. BUT the camera and transmitter is in the rear window of the car I tow. The receiver is at the rear of the Motorhome behind the lower panel near the towbar. The receiver is then wired by a long video lead to the monitor which is mounted in front of the steering wheel. Even with this set up I once had my rear view image change to the live image of a horse as I overtook a horse box!

There might be no power at the monitor. Take it off, connect to a good (ie working) 12v source then try. Don't forget to switch it on.
