Sorting through my PC, I found this. I may have even have got it off the Forum, but still worth posting again for all the "Newbies"!

I know a lot of people will say "Use it throughout the Winter", but some people may have to park it up for a few months.

I regard the term ‘winterise’ to be associated with preparations for/inherent capability to use the MH over the winter period.

Others seem to view it as a substitute for ‘winter layup preparations’. 🤷‍♂️

English is a lovely language isn't it? :giggle:

So many words have different meanings, dependant on their context, but I agree with your comment.

Sorry Otter Spotter , I didn't generate this, and only have a PDF copy. I too love Mind Maps! I use Concept Draw Mindmaps.

No worries I will have a go in the next few days thanks
I made the mind map A few years ago. I have the original somewhere, Ill dig it out. Though I use different mind mapping software these days.

Sorry Jim - I should have given you credit! ;)

Blimey. That mind map could be scrapped and replaced with “Use as usual”.

I prefer to use pen and paper for mind maps a computer just get in the way of free thinking.

Me too, but once done the programs are then great for producing something you can present

Use ours year round but useful as a reminder what to do between winter trips out .
If you leave a site and say travel 50 miles with all taps open and valves and tanks open how much residual water would the system retain ? I’ve only ever used this system for draining down and have had no frost damage / problems so far . Have I just been lucky ?

Maybe for small mind maps, if I can find one of my larger mind maps, I will post it, it would take forever drawing it out in a computer

As long as you have at outline it takes just a few seconds
Jim for me it’s organic pen and paper every time if others want to use a computer and program that’s fine I wouldn’t stop or argue against anyone but for me it’s not the same as using a flip chart size piece of paper and going for it

I understand that you mind map with a pen, most people do. So how are you going to get that flip chart as a readable image into the magazine, or as a graphic in a presentation. How about mindmapping software, built for the job as I used .

Mind mapping is a tool for me to pull together the complexity of a subject I may be exploring it’s not for others. From the mind map it helps to make sense of complexity and link various topics surrounding an issue, if I’m presenting the last thing I would use is a mind map.

The Mindmap software is for presenting mindmaps you have built with pen and paper

That the Mindmap in the op has been shared on the internet thousands of times shows that people find mind maps informative and much better than a page of text. Presented via a computer program drawing they are also much better than my scribbled map.
.
But as you keep missing the point I'll stop making it :D

I put mine in storage on a farm, therefore I put mouse sticky pads in the engine compartment, garage, gas cupboard & main hab. I also put bagged posion in the garage & main hab, along with Spanish sourced mothballs that contain real insecticide and also Some powdered insecticide. The sticky pads are also good for picking up bugs making the van a winter home as well. Plus of course as much moisture absorber as I can bucket up.

I think the choc biscuit is a terrible idea, it may detect vermin but will certainly encourage them. I use the neck breaking traps, around half a dozen and usually get the odd mouse though one winter I got 18. Check them weekly while the van is in storage. I don't use 'humane' traps, though I don't like killing things, because they would just starve to death slowly as I can't check every day .

Jim I get what your saying a simple mind map can be clearly expressed on a single slide.

lus of course as much moisture absorber as I can bucket up.
And that is another minefield !
Two schools of thought on it..
Unless the space you put the absorber in is hermetically sealed moisture will will continue to be drawn in from outside, so unless you have enough absorber to take in all the water in the world you are only exacerbating the issue

And the opposing posture is that every little helps

Me, I am of the first school... As long as the van is well ventilated and does not actually leak ( so not a position Swift owners would take LOL ! ) all should be well

But as it is a discussion neither side will prove to the other live and let live :-)
