Winter tyres

Hi I noticed Germany and Italy and a few others require winter tyres by law from October to April does anyone know if this applies to tourists travelling. I’m just wanting to know if anyone has done europe in winter and had to purchase winter tyres that likely won’t be used again.

I think what you mean is that the tyres require to have the 3PMSF symbol which indicates that the tyres are both reliable and safe for driving in snow.

All season tyres can also have this capability so it is not just winter tyres.

Yes it does apply to tourists.

Also all the departments in France that have mountains which is over 50% of France.

Like a lot of Funsters I run winter tyres all year round.
