Can't I just stick some Duct tape over the vent as a temporary measure? I read that the winter covers you buy from Dometic allow you to use the fridge on gas while their vents are still fitted. Does this mean that they have reduced vent holes, or do they seal the vent completely?

Mine block the top vent completely except for the outlet on the right from the burner. The bottom vent has a slot about 15mm wide at the bottom, the rest is blocked off.

But I wouldn't take the chance. If you don't want to buy proper screens just run it without them. :)

I can't use the top cover or my freezer doesn't work.

Duct tape will do the job if you leave alittle gap on each. But I wouldn't fancy trying to clean the glue off in the spring though.

Can't see any photos ,but yes, it's a big no no to spray water over the fridge vents when washing the van. Electrics dont like getting wet.

the small area on the right of the top vent is the flue so dont cover that instead of duct tape on the out side i would wedge cardboarad or similar in side if you need to ive never use covers in 15 years

Don't know what you mean re the "Is100 version" but the vents are louvered such that water coming down ,from above the vents ,shouldn't enter the vent ,unless the wind is blowing hard or you are spraying your van with water horizontally at the vents.

Ls 100 is the part number of the vents .

Never had winter covers on ours, they are unused in a bag in the garage. I was my van with an extendable brush and a bucket ,never used a hose or spray type washer on any van I have had.
High pressure sprays can lift decals and get under vents , roof lights, locker door seals etc not worth the risk for the sake of a few extra mins washing from a bucket (y)

You don’t have covers fitted in your photo.

I use my covers when parked up as I don’t have the mesh on the inside of them, but don’t worry about refitting them when washing, I just don’t direct water towards the grills. They can deal with a bit of water ok.

In the photo it doesn't have the "winter" covers on ..I don't get this yoke until 14 April..just can't remember seeing a pair of them when we were viewing it .

Those never running fridges with a winter cover over the lower vent, are you on gas or lekky?
Is the outside temperature lower than 8deg C?

On gas, after a couple of trips with the outside weather mild, we couldn’t understand why our fridge was rubbish at getting cold on a later more wintery trip.

After a bit of RTFM, we saw Dometic say fit a winter cover over the lower vent if the outside temperature lower than 8deg C.

Doing that suggestion regained normal fridge cooling within a short time span. 👍🏻😎

Don't get the keys until the 14th of April.

If you take a fridge vent cover of you will see that there is nothing waterproof inside there. In fact its all usually bare wood as well

Thetforde covers fit in between the louvred vent and the frame. There is a cut out to allow some air in. The idea is to cut down on the cold air and make the fridge more efficient.
