Just a heads up around some information that I have just been informed regarding Windscreen replacement whilst out of the UK with Comfort Insurance.

I know many Funsters use Comfort. I also was on the verge of changing to them today. I was just informed that Comfort will only cover windscreen replacement up to £3000 out of the UK and its £5k in UK using an approved company. Now in my case with an A class, I understand that these could cost upward to £5k abroad. Are there MH owners out there who think they are covered when it appears that your replacement claim will be limited to £3k outside UK with Comfort

Just bringing it to your attention if you thought you had sufficient cover

Better get them to change their website then! I made a point of asking when I renewed ours.

Well going back to Comfort and now speaking to another member of staff., She then states that any claim for windscreen will be unlimited using an approved repairer in the UK and mainland Europe. If an non approved repairer in Europe is used the limit is £3000. Comfort stated that post Brexit and Covid contracts and availability for approved Europe suppliers maybe at times difficult in different Countries. So in essence yes you are covered unlimited but you take your chances getting an approved repairer.

If your abroad make sure you can pay the cost as we had to at niessmann then claim it back when we got home,we had to.I was not impressed 3000 pounds at the start of a holiday.that was Comfort insurance.

Did you manage to Gert the replacement less than £3000, thus covered by the policy

3000 on the nail,it was concerning i hadn’t got it in my account as I had been at alde heating on the way had to buy a new boiler ,took so long I missed my tunnel crossing so had pay extra ,it was a bit of a day. Ps if you don’t pay they put you in a compound until they receive the funds, don’t expect them to pay up quickly ,so I had to borrow the money from a friend.

Our experience with comfort with an A class in Europe with a cracked screen was the their Autoglass partner Caraglass would not touch A class screens and would be best left till we got back to UK. Which we did without problem.😊

We went to car. Glass ist no they wouldn’t touch it ,we thought of coming back home rang travel world £4500 pounds so we went to neissmann .

The lady at Comfort did go through the option of claiming and fixing upon return to UK.That fits in when its a chip or a crack that gets you back. What if you have a complete windscreen fail that needs replacement. That's the point I would need covered.

Well decided not to go into Croatia now so will stay with NFU which covers full cost of replacement. Although you have to pay up and claim back the amount paid out

I had a chip, which was repaired the next day foc in France, but i did have to drive to the repairers only about 10k so no big issue.

One of the advantages of our downsize to semi integrated hymer is windscreen replacement is only about £300-£500.
