I have to move my computer this week so I have fired up the mini pc on my TV, I used to watch Netflix etc on it but now have a firestick so the pc hasn't been on since November. It's updating and I have a blank screen with "getting windows ready don't turn off your computer" it's been like this for 20 minutes. Is that a problem? Any help appreciated thanks

Only 20 minutes I've had mine take an hour or two if it's not been used for a few months.
Also don't be surprised if the updates fall over. Last year I was using Linux most of the year and my PC didn't get booted into Windows for months & I'm still getting problems with updates not installing, I've tried nearly all the fixes looks like I may have to reformat.

No problem. it takes an age to get all the security patches and the general W10 package updated. I had the same a fortnight ago, discovered that for some reason windows updates had failed since Nov. Spent the afternoon getting it updated.....doh

Did you shut down in between up dates last November. It might be just finishing off
It shut down ok last time I used it, the only thing it's used for now is house hunting and we have put that on hold for now, I've only kicked it into life on case I need a pc while mine is out of action due to decorating

I've had exactly the same when switching on my Samsung tablet for the first time since last September.
I use W10 on my laptop which has also been plagued with numerous updates and patches.

The last 2, possibly 3 updates from Mr Gates have been an absolute P.I.T.A !!!!!!!
I had to keep cancelling, restarting and re-installing before it was sorted.
Took me chuffin ages!

It's because they keep trying to send the 'chips' down the line so it keeps getting blocked! :giggle:
