With a windspeed of 45 - 50mph , we in our Swift rio 320 are getting buffeted by gusts. I say we should come off the milenco 3 storey blocks for a lower centre of gravity. Fatmrg is guffawing at me. Mind you he has had a whisky.

Just for interest - would it make any difference ?

Winds can be greater at high altitude … but I don't think a Milenco ramp changes much!

Unless the ramps are themselves unstable and rocking, the van will move exactly the same on the ground as it does on the ramps.

You might catch the gusts less if you can turn the van to face into the wind?

If you are staying more than the one night and if the wind is forecast to persist brim you water tank and your diesel tank and don't empty the gray water tank until you have to. Every little helps!!

Pointing nose into the wind reduces the buffeting.

But if fatmrg has already imbibed it might be a tad late to rearrange your pitching alignment and I recommend fatmrsg also hits the bottle. :drinks: If done to appropriate standard it will be irrelevant if van wobble or bed spin is the issue .

Ha that's just a breeze :giggle:
Year before last we were staying on a campsite near the Dutch coast for a couple of night before getting ferry from Hook of Holland. Site owner came to say the were expecting highest wind Netherlands had for 50 years, near hurricane force. Took the awning down and wild is an under statement! Didn't get much sleep and next morning it was a bit of a hairy drive over several open dykes and bridges to the Ferry which was delayed 3 hours until wind strength reduced.

Totally agree. Nose to the wind makes a massive difference. The vehicle is designed to pass through wind in that direction at 70mph.

I turned ours very late one night when exposed at https://doubletreesfarm.co.uk/. Had to do it again one Christmas when it blew up to a storm. We moved, so did others. Then a caravan tried to turn and really started to swing round. All of us motorhomes ran along to rescue the guy until he was able to get his jacks back down.
