It may spoil the look but thats something for you to consider but you could easily use a polimer adhesive and fix an awning rail to the front off your awning

We had wondered about something like that. Do you think it would hold the weight of an air awning?
 
Yes i do if glued on correctly but if you have doubts put a rivet 25mm in on each end on the flat flange

I bought a 3m length on ebay sure it was about £35 but you only need a short piece

I think awnings are really overrated.
Something protruding from the van to hit branches and get damaged
When out in use it is something to be concerned about a gust of wind.
There always seems to be a tree offering shade nearby.
Just cant see a reason to want to buy one
