Just picked this up from 'Motorhoming France' website...

Nothing definite yet but it looks as there is a chance for later in the Summer.

I've not seen anything about Airs as yet.

There is another Blog entry about Camping Car Parks and there availability for certain users...

the world is in the grip of a pandemic Britain has one of the biggest infection rates in the world
(1) do you think you will get travail cover health insurance
(2) do you think you will be welcome
(3) will ther be cross border travail in the EU Italy from what i believe will only alow Italians to holiday in there country probably France will do that to

uk camp sites if they open this year will be full to bursting as the french ones will if they only alow french to holiday in France.
Spain is a difrant matter i don't know what they will do probably just have a big sleep till it all over

Emailed a site in Strasbourg last week got this reply PS they have six sites throughout France

Thank you for your interest in our campsite of Strasbourg.
I confirm that our site will be open this summer. We open
Hope that helps

Just stick around here for now, I've had to move off my permanent pitch for a few days, I'm sitting in Thetford forest, I've not seen a sole, plenty of dear, and the odd fox.

The campsites may be opening in mid-June but that is subject to the easing of lockdown going OK. There is no indication yet when the national borders will be opening. The authorities currently seem to be holding firm on that, so no chance of entering France other than for a short list of specific reasons. At present, we residents can travel up to 100km from our home without justification, after our lockdown was eased last Monday. I'm planning to have a short run across to the Aurillac area at the end of the week for a couple of days, which is just within the 100km for me?

Commercial campsites remain closed; all but a handful of the Camping-Car Park network aires are open; France Passion network is open but subject to confirming with owner before arrival; the typical free village/town aires may or may not be open, depending on the local situation.

The north-east quarter of France, from Paris up to Belgium and across to the German border, is more heavily-infected than the remainder of the country, and tighter restrictions will be in place in that area. TBH, I don't see any likelihood of the country opening up to tourist traffic from without before mid-summer at the earliest....:(

I'll just have to try to enjoy it on your behalf!;)

Our friends who run a small campsite in France are awaiting a government decision due around June 15th. They want to re-open but, because they have been told that they will have to introduce SD in their small restaurant it may not be economically viable. They also think, at present, that they will not be allowed to open their swimming pool.

They would need the site to be virtually full every day to cover costs, staff etc. However, they are considering opening, even if they run at a slight loss, in order to keep as many regulars as possible.

Whether we will be able to travel soon enough to make it possible for us to visit them remains to be seen.

Latest it would seem from U.K. government

I know but thought people might have forgotten about B and the impact on those talking about getting away later in the year or even into 2021 .
Sadly it’s always at the back of my mind. This was yo have been our last ‘easy’ year ... Germany and France. Strange how your ambitions changed... a weekend away in UK would go me just now

spitfire & Grianan please think on the subject of the thread, you are obviously too young to remember the days before we joined the EU and had all sorts of restrictions. We can't alter the vote of four years ago so it is what it is!

It is. And it will be harder next year than this. I’m sure we will still get away but I will mourn what we have lost, for myself and for my children.

My son should be flying out to Germany tomorrow to complete the last 5 weeks of the school year there, after his National 5 exams that never were.

We will now have to see if it is possible after his Highers next year.

I did not mean to start a discussion on the B thing but just a gentle reminder to those thinking of venturing off at the end of the year ( I got the info passed by internet ) that the virus is not the only barrier to ‘ usual ‘ travel .

we had an email from the site in France where we have our static. they are busy getting everything ready for an imminent opening - so as soon as travel restrictions allow, we are off. we have a 16 june tunnel crossing booked as well as mid july and early august !

Is there any chance that they miss us so much this year, that they grant us some unbelievable concessions to make us come back next year?

on the assumption that you are talking about site owners, i think its not going to be any different than it is, lots of sites vying for diminishing business trying to make theirs stand out from the crowd. no different to any business trying to recoup their 'lost revenue' from this year. but most sites will be concentrating on 'campers/caravanners' and not motorhomes and there is nothing different about that either !

Even i m not that optimistic !

And I have a 9th June booking (15th is more likely though in my opinion)

There may be more news next week, they are going to announce the rules for the next phase, due to start June 2nd. Restaurants likely to be able to start opening in “green” departments, and as noted above possibly campsites too. Not clear whether the UK border opening will be part of next week’s announcements.

Too early for the border to open for travel into France (IMV from what i have read) I think that although 15th June isnt set in stone for France, I think it is setting in concrete. I ll be interested to see if we can travel through France to Belgium and Germany if their borders are open, but the Green zones need to be in place.
I am thinking of changing my booking to the night of 14th June to arrive on 15th at 0010 hrs and if things move faster just change it back.

Still dont know where I will be going as dont know when it opens

I've a train for the 17th july in south west france every week im feeling more hope we will be going, unless we will not to be able to travel all the way through?

This was also going to be the last big one for us, still hoping to do it, as don't know how things will be next year, worse thing it might be the end of mh in Europe, hope not but not getting any younger.

It seems strange to me that we were going to allow travel from France to the UK without quarantine then did an about turn and now it's just Ireland.
I suspect that other countries have refused to reciprocate and so they've pulled the plug on the agreement .

I think, and my normal caveat of i might be wrong, this decision was released 1 hour after the news of Brexit talks going badly (that bit is factual). It is a political tool not a scientifically followed part of the solution.

However, even though i believe this, I dont blame Boris for doing it. At the moment it means less than nothing because we cant get past Calais anyway, so i see it as a shot across the bows to concentrate the minds of the negotiations.

I am beginning to wonder though, whether he might see the quarantine through to ensure British money increases the British economy, which again I understand, but this is likely to be the only thing that prevents us going abroad so will not be overly happy with it if that ends up being the case.

I think the reason the 14 day quarantine agreement with France was quickly dropped was because the EU officials said that the U.K. could not give France special treatment.
Either the whole of the EU should get the dispensation or none. Legal action and potentially huge fines against the U.K. would follow if we went ahead with the agreement.
Typical inflexible EU thinking again which might have further hampered the B****** negotiations.
Rather than get in another fight the Govt. took the pragmatic step of dropping the idea.

Richard.

They’ll certainly miss the Billions we paid them each year ! or were you talking about site owners ?

Sounds odd as some countries sound like they are opening borders with others before a general removal of restrictions do you have any link that says it's an EU restriction ?
