Maybe just had a glass too many but I was thinking about a post related to a preference by some for Wild Camping in the UK.
Having thought about I do do think it is possible certainly anywhere south of the Watford GP without having a detrimental effect on local communities.
Particularly now when every Tom Jack and Harry with their dog is at it.
Nice thought though but maybe of another era?

I'm not not sure whether you mean you do do, or you don't don't

Certainly right now there are loads of places. However I think a couple more years of #vanlife will see it all legislated away. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against van lifers, they are only doing what we have done for decades. It's just that ther are so many of them and they all share everything on youtube. Sooner rather than later there will be so many that legislation is inevitable

A touchy subject b

Yes I know lots of do do’s when you drink but the same principles apply apply do do
You still haven't said (I'll put this in simple terms) whether you do or do not think it's possible............
Evidently, in your condition you'll have to get someone sober to read your original post back to you. ;)

I have no idea what #vanlife is or has to do with...?

Dont you think "vanlife" is just another fad and will die off when the YouTube money stops coming in? Hopefully before the anticipated legislation.

If this about people that wear army type stuff and have weapons I would like nothing better than keep clear. I am a simple sole that just wants to camp with my beautiful Motorhome where I am allowed without upsetting others.

campsites are perfect in that case. You are allowed to stay and will be welcome. It’s almost as if they were made for the purpose.

Just google it. It is massive. Young kids living in self built vans. Some youngsters who have had say a YouTube channel for less than a year have 5 times the number of followers than there are Funster’s. It is massive. Regular Motorhome fans are outnumbered 20 to 1

Sounds like CL’s and CS’s are ideal for you.

Wow just had a quick look. Makes me wonder what they do about their black and grey waste with public loos being shut? How do they get water? Isn’t the land in remote spots where they park up private land, in England anyhow?

Could they be the ones that are the focus of complaints ?

Thats` probably a big part of the problem, I think most of them are responsible and deal with waste in the right way but as always, some will not and that`s where locals get the hump.

Firstly, good luck in finding a wild spot down south, if you do, you cant have a drink as you may well be moved on by the police or similar ranked person. Not so much a problem across the channel, where we are welcomed & Aires exist.
From what I have seen on you tube under #Vanlifers they seem to spend most of each day, filming & editing to post at the same time every day, covering their exploits on you tube for "Little or no money these days" apparently, they are after sponsors & donations from their regular "followers"
Yes I agree with Jim, it will be those types of Citizen Khan types exercising their freedom to roam, foraging wood in rural areas for their inbuilt log burners, using Park4Nite Apps etc, that will spoil it for all.
Follow them for any length of time, and you will be shouting at them, with me, after becoming bored out your socks "Go Home & get a Proper Job" your Holiday Travel vlog is becoming stale.
At the end of the day, most of them realise you cant be a nomad for long, you do need some sort of permanent base in life.

Bollards stop motor homes using shingle bank at Minster, Sheppey

Motor homes have been blocked from one of the beaches on the Isle of Sheppey.
Concrete bollards were installed by Swale council on the shingle bank at Minster this week to stop motorists camping overnight for free. It is also after complaints of litter being left.

During the hot weather and coronavirus lockdown, the stretch of beach has become a top destination for tourists wanting to wake up with a sea view, even though no overnight camping is allowed.
An overflow car park opposite has also been fenced off.

Unfortunately like everything, it's the few who spoil it for the masses. I'm not sure how it works but I'm assuming there are groups on social media that inform other "live aboards" as I call them.
We have a real problem in a particular road in Norwich with Vans, motorbikes (of all ages) and caravans all living in their vehicles which causes access issues and, being situated next to a wooded area, the smell of toilet waste is pretty bad, so no questions about where they empty.

The council seem toothless to do anything and as it is an approach road (dead end) to a country park, used by people and families who want to enjoy the area. From my perspective, it's the approach road to my yard and getting an artic past these vehicles is a daily challenge.

I'm not talking wild camping, I'm talking wild living here, and I totally agree with the sentiment that it is these types of people who are going to end up getting "wild camping" banned from lots of places which will deprive the people who want a few nights here and there from being able to enjoy their vans.

Every day more turn up, some leave for a few days then they return. Caravans turn up, get unhitched and the authorities just do nothing.

I agree with what you write. We love to wild camping in beautiful areas but always respect the needs of the locals and to preserve that very beauty that attracts us. It is a useful distinction to make between wild camping and wild living although there are those who live wild in unison with nature.

Yes you are right. It would be wrong of me, and something I wouldnt do, to class full timers who do respect the surroundings and communities that they live in, in the same category as those who get an old horse box, stick a chimney out the top and pollute their surroundings with what they discard.

I think they call themselves 'influenzas' or something like that.
Most of these guys and girls are known as digital nomads. Whats inspiring them to do this is the ability to make money on their travels by means of new Technology combined with the relatively new internet. Without an income your van is going nowhere which defeats the object so they either make money making videos for a youtube channel or have a call centre type Job which they operate from a laptop in their vans. A legitimate job but allows them to travel and see the world whilst getting paid for it. I can see the attraction myself but i have a small business and a house to maintain so ive missed that boat!

Unfortunately I can remember the good old days early 1980's , when you built your own moho (of sorts)
found a nice place to overnight , next morn move on , that was after you'd made sure there was no sign that you'd ever been there.

Really good photo. I remember you could free camp wherever you wanted in the New Forest but that was back in the 70’s (maybe later). Beers was 4 pennies, a gallon of petrol was 5 shillings (cannot remember any of the actual figures), the signicant thing was the population was quite different. Those times have passed and will never return so off to Mars it is or accept things are different now.

Im assuming you mean citizen Kane 😁. Sorry but I don’t agree with you. They may look different from us and have a different lifestyle but in reality they are just the same as any full-timer whether it be in a converted minibus or a 150k Motorhome. There’s been many instances on here of poor sanitary behaviour by people with modern expensive motorhome. At the end of the day there are good and bad everywhere and unfortunately bad news travels faster than good.

I agree with you completely. While staying at a place in Portugal where you could empty etc . Owner only there at certain times and oddly it was mainly the new posh vans who waited till owner left to save the 3 euros. On several occasions the converted and sometimes a bit ramshackle who searched out someone staying on site to clarify how to empty when there is no one there and left the money !
Never judge a book by its cover

Imho can't bundle everyone into generalisations.. down here in the Bournemouth/Christchurch area we have some that stay overnight who are no problems at all, whereas we have others that leave all their mess where they were parked. It's seems to be getting worse every year, albeit that could be me noticing more since I got my own Moho 2 years ago ?? Also this year the Covid means we have these plus illegal tent campers who are much much worse. I think the #vanlife movement will have increased awareness of an alternative lifestyle... But I've not heard one real person in my office block predominantly full of 20/30 year olds who are even aware of it... And still very few people actually follow through with it. We just become more aware of any Moho related news as Moho lovers ourselves.
