We crossed to Dublin today. Parked in Kilkenny for the night. We're just going from Cork to Galway around the Wild Atlantic Way over the next 3 weeks. We'll do the northern half another time.

How was the trip? We're looking to loop round clockwise from Rosslare to Galway(ish) before heading back from Dublin in the Spring. Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated.

Guigsy has not been on since September, and hasn't paid their subs lately!

We spent three weeks last September doing the WAW. Loved it to bits, everything about it was great. If I point out three highlights it was the Slea head route from Dingle, Achill island, and Slieve league cliffs, highest in Europe. I’m being picky, because we loved it all. We stayed on a couple of sites but mainly found free or cheap stopovers.
One stopover worth mentioning is at Cobh aire for easy transportation to Cork. At 10€ pn it’s a bargain. Right on the seafront and I even caught a couple of Mackerel 10 mtrs from the van.

We are planning to do exactly the same route in mid-July in our 7.4m A-Class, but thought of going south from Galway as we will be arriving in Dunleary then departing to Spain from Rosslaire three weeks later. Would you say there was any benefit to going one way or the other on the route? Did you use S4 or P4N or another app specifically for Ireland? Roughly how far were you driving in a day?
Apologies for all the questions. We have driven in Ireland a few times but never around the coast. All I recall is that the miles seemed longer to do there. But, we loved it!
The thought of fresh Mackerel seared and served on soda bread with Irish butter has me thinking that I should go out and buy a fishing rod. Although I have never fished in my life.

Good choice for your first stop, Strandhill camp site and a visit Queen Maeve's tomb. Stayed there a couple of years ago, very enjoyable walk from the campsite to the tomb, incredible views, test your fitness level mind you, although I was approaching 70.

We ended up In Rosslare for our ferry back to Pembroke docks. 4 weeks in all.

I am 65, but I am recovering from knee replacement surgery. A bit like half a Dalek at the moment in that I can get up stairs no bother, but coming down them is not as fluid.

Queen Medb tomb is in Sligo as is Strandhill did you not say your going across to Galway then heading south again and east towards Roslare? If so your too far south for Dolmens suggestions also someone mentioned Sliabh Liag cliffs they're further north too in Donegal (not far from where I live)
For you heading south from Galway you have The Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Spanish point, Adare, Tralee, Dingle bay, Killarney National Park, Ring of Kerry, Ring of Beara, then down to Bantry Bay & Mizen head after that your heading east and could visit the likes of Skibbereen, Clonakilty & Kinsale then up to Blarney, Cork, Cobh & Waterford and thats you back round to Roslare
Come in May the weather is usually grand
