Hi I have a few WiFi plugs and have had no problems with them, but I recently got the first WiFi bulb
The bulb was not easy to set up and took a few goes, however once it was working it's been fine, until this morning when it came on but then lost connection. I reset it and that took about 6 tries. I then reconnected it, again not easy and needed several goes. It is working fine now, does anyone know if the bulbs are not as good as the plugs, or have I got a faulty one?
Thanks John

I have had a couple of issues with one of mine but I think that was due to people turning them on and off again several times too quickly - effectively resetting them. Mine take a fraction of a second to come on and it seems my family expect the light to turn on instantly...

I lost connection to all my WiFi products yesterday. It seems they all were non responding. It took several goes on each to re-set. I think it may well have happened after the Alexa update on the App.

Ha ha welcome to the age of connectivity, just think what 5g will bring.
Glad you're sorted.

I have two LIFX bulbs, one in the hall and one in the lounge. Alexa refuses to recognise either of them so I used my phone to turn them on and off.

Then my phone ceased to recognise the one in the lounge and the one in the hall refuses to come on automatically at the time set.

Added to which, Sky internet is becoming flaky recently so that means neither of the lights will turn on without much flicking of switches.

So glad I only paid a fiver for them in the Amazon sale!

Only put my first 2 in yesterday, no problems yet. Bit of a faff to set up and haven't managed to get Alexa involved, I lost the will to live before then, just using from their app.

I got it all working fine until it stopped, now I have re-set it it is working fine, and Alexa picked up on the "new" bulb automatically, although I did have to add it again to the routines and groups. I will see how it goes and if it plays up again I will send it back to Amazon.

Most our house is fitted with Phillips "wireless" bulbs. We control them with Alexa and have had no real issues except one. The power company being what it is here in Mexico, we have frequent outages. When the power is restored, all the wifi controlled bulbs go on. No big deal during the day, but a bit of a pain at night!

We have Wemo bulbs and sockets all over the house, every now and then one of the will just not respond.

Turning if off, and back on and then waiting for it to reappear in the app sorts it.

We also have Honeywell WiFi TRV’s and Thermostat which is great as you can control temperature by room, and set separate timers.

Bose Soundlink in every room, now there’s a headache, when they work they are great. But a mixture of dropping connectivity and human error (swmbo, is not good with tech. So trying to get her to NOT turn the bedroom speaker off as the others are copying it is impossible)

Network TV’s in 2 rooms

But the real bonus with all this .....

A phone call from home while your having a beer while away on work, to say the house has done mad, lights going on and off, TV changing channels, heating on in summer, radio playing in the bathroom etc...

She cottoned on the third time.

I've got a lot of eWeLink stuff and I'm the settings for each device is a setting for the power on state. Might be worth a look...

With virtual Isolation at the moment I find my wifi connected arms and legs have a benefit to my health by getting of my arse and switching the light switch on or off.;)

I did it because my landing light has an upstairs and a downstairs switch, but you have to turn it off with whichever one turned it on. A pain when you are about to go to bed only to find you turned the damn thing on downstairs.

So rather than rewiring or at least seeing if the switches needed changing, I stuck a smart bulb in having just bought an echo Dot in the sales, 18 quid, 20 quid for a couple of bulbs, doubt I could have sorted the switch issue for less and it would still be manual.

Now I've just ordered some plugs so the kettle will be boiled by the time I go to the kitchen and I can put the oven on while I'm out with the dog, it's easier than fiddling with the timer on the oven.

I have not connected our Phillips Hue system to another such as Alexa, the lights have not come on post a power cut I wonder if your lights come on as its is controlled 'outside' of the Phillips Hub (assuming your using one) ?

I think I'm maybe missing something here?
I do like things I can play with but some of the remote control stuff seems more hassle than its worth?
I have a couple of web cams and a tv that is smart-ish but most of the other smart home stuff doesn't do much for me
Remote control of the heating maybe of a bit of use if I was having to change the controls?

Agree with you the reason for the Phillips hue was it’s not connected to other stuff but it’s nice to get ambient lighting particularly in the winter months it can be operated just like a conventional light and also with sensors automatically come on, my bathroom light comes on dimly but bright enough so I don’t miss the pan and also not wake me up too much. But understand not everyone wants to do this
