Got a standard Dometic fridge that seems to go in pretty much all the british built stuff.

Its the first one that seems to not work that well

Its been on electric hook up now for about 6 days and still not that good

Freezer bit ok but I think thats not as good as most others Iv had

Its in an Autosleeper Malvern 2019

Can it be tweaked?
Cheers

Assuming you are not somewhere very hot if it isn't working properly and because it will still be under warranty, I suggest following that route first.

Is it the same on gas ?
There was a thread on here about replacing the thermal paste between the aluminium fins and cooling element below the freezer section.
I did ours in the summer and it was quite simple to do.
It seems to make cooling more effective but not tried it in a hot climate yet.
Paste was bought off eBay.
Do a search using thermal paste and it should bring it up
Edit ; just re-read and it's a new van, paste unlikely to help.

Getting any warranty work done is always a pain so Ill try and get it sorted myself if possible
Ill try it on gas see what it does
Yes always on full ill try it on electric middle setting
Thanks

Our Dometic fridge isn’t that cold on gas but the freezer compartment keeps things frozen, it all seems fine on mains and 12v.
The Thetford fridge in our Autosleeper wasn’t much better. We just make sure nothing needs to be kept that cold.

Did you add the lower vent cover yet?
We weren’t impressed with our Dometic during the last trip but now it’s cold enough to add one or both of external vent covers.
That did help us get better cooling.

I had it running in my unit for a couple of days and it didn't seem that good
Then went on a site for a few days and the same
Just got back now
Ill try a few of the suggestions
Thanks

someone said not long ago that fridge number knobs were backwards to normal thinking,
Don't know how true it is as I've never looked at the actual fridge temp with a thermometer but a higher number is hotter not colder.
Personally I thought it's BS but never bothered checking it :D

Mine wasn’t that good until I fitted internal and external fans. Coped pretty well with 30+ degree heat during our long summer trip, couldn’t have warm beers!
i also found that not overloading it and careful packing helped to let the cold air circulate a lot better

By chance do you have access to a thermometer. You can then take some readings. Once you have these you can then compare them to the temperatures to other vans. That way you will know you have a problem and lob it back to the dealer

In any case, book it in for warranty fix now. Get your slot and then get the temps. By the time your slot comes about, if your temperature readings are low you can then get the dealer to sort and if necessary demand to have the fridge replaced

Hope that helps

Make sure the door is a good fit. Find a piece of A4 paper and trap in several locations around the door between the sealing edges. The paper should be gripped evenly all around if not the fridge won't get down to temperature.

I had problems with my fridge as it was not cooling down correctly, I took the vents off and I could see the gas pilot light was igniting and looked ok, I took it to a local dealers and they cleaned the jets and all was well, I use LPG and I was informed that they class that as dirty gas and the jets have to be cleaned regularly
