Hi - I am planning to buy a tow rope / strap but my initial research (OK so I had a look on Towsure website 😉) and realised that not all ropes/straps are made equal. I only have a 3500 Van but it would be nice to have something that would be safe to use in helping others. So can anyone recommend anything (links appreciated) that would be right for the job? I like the look of the ones with hooks attached as my boy scout knot tying skills leave a lot to be desired! Thanks.

I carry ( used once) a tow strap, like the one shown..
Takes up less space as well.

I bought two of these in the hope that with ten metres there might be some ground a little more grippy that somebody can tow us out from if needed.

I do a lot of recovery stuff, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend anything that has hooks built into it. They fail, regularly. I always use a kinetic rope or strap. I don’t use it for its kinetic power, but the fact it will damper the impact on both vehicles

And a couple of soft shackles make a light but tough setup.

As above

'Soft' shackles and a Kinetic tow strap.
All rated for 10-15T plus use.
(Don't get one designed for cars, with a 5t breaking strain, you are not a car!)

Remember you just as likely to be pulling someone off a muddy pitch as being pulled yourself.

I was also 'Landie Andy', I had Landies for over 20 years.
I once used my tow strap on the Landie to pull a stationary loaded 40 tonne HGV off the infamous Sun-in-the-Sands roundabout.
