What are the advantages/differences etc of the Battery Master versus the Votronic Standby Charger ?
They are vastly different prices yet appear to do the same job, so I’m thinking that the more expensive ( Battery Master) must offer more features / better performance / reliability or something.
Please discuss and report back

Sorry that last line sounds a bit pompous, didn’t mean it to .
What I should have said is “ I would welcome the input form this excellent and knowledgeable forum “

The battery master doesn't have B2B capabilities. The battery master just steals from the leisure battery and transfers surplus to the starter battery, when the difference in voltages is greater than 0.65v. Ideally, it works best when the leisure battery is connected to a solar panel.

The Votronic B2B primarily boosts charge from the alternator to leisure battery. It can also be used to provide a trickle charge from leisure battery to the starter battery when the alternator is not generating.

The battery master is about £60 from the MHFun shop and is relatively easy to install.

The smallest Votronic B2B is about £140. Wiring is more complicated.

Suggest you advise what exactly you want to achieve.

PS. You confused me by the title of your thread (ie B2B). There is indeed a Votronic standby charger, similar to the battery master. I'll let others comment on the merits of the two types.

I have the Stirling equivalent
Charges by upto 3 amps which is approx double that of a battery master

I think the OP is comparing the Votronic Standby Charger not a 'B2B' as is normally referred to on this forum.

The term 'B2B' normally denotes a high-power charger that charges the leisure batteries from the alternator/starter battery - the opposite direction to a Battery Master or Votronic Standby Charger.

I don't know enough about the Votronic Standby Charger to say how good it is, but on paper it looks OK to me.

You are correct autorouter that’s what I was meaning, thanks for putting me straight .
So now it’s been made clearer , my question still stands , what is the advantage of the more expensive option ?

The Battery Master is well established and I've not heard of any failing. The Votronic is less well known I think so not much experience of it on here. Give one a go! :)
