Looking at going to Baden Baden next stop. I fancy the full naked ! thermal baths treatment :p:giggler::blusher: but the stellplatz is a bit far away to walk or to cycle for us currently.
Anyone knowledge of parking nearby the baths for up to 5 hours or of buses from The stellplatz?

We stayed for free at the carpark at the bottom of the venicular. We stayed overnight. We then got the bus down the hill to town. We also went to the baths, but not the nudie sauna. :tmi:

We then ate at the Lowenbrau beer garden. The food there is actually quite classy and there's a lot more to drink then just beer.

To bathe in the water perhaps is OK but read the advice for drinking it!
It is not good for you, advised if I remember well not to drink more than 500ml per day due to all the different elements present they do have the information posted at the drinking fountain.
A spectacular building well worth a visit, also the Opera House is the second largest in Europe and the casino is impressive though we did not try our luck.
We used the stellplatz and we cycled along the paths through the gardens to the places of interest.
Whilst at the stellplatz a couple arrived with a horse box and unloaded their horses and rode of up into the town, they were a policeman and policewoman who visit the town every couple of weeks, we met them again outside the water drinking building.

Don’t worry, we live near Bath and if the spa water at Baden Baden is anything like that at Bath, a sip would be enough!

We found the centre of Baden Baden quite busy to drive through. We followed the sat nav to to coordinates of the Merkurberg Bahn (Markgrafenstrassen) which is the funicular base station. Sat Nav took us through the long tunnel under the centre and then gave us a u turn the other side. Worrying at first, it was ok because soon sent off to the right just before entering the tunnel going back.
I asked at the ticket office if ok to park and ride bus from there and the chap said ok as there were not many tourists around.
There are 2 buses, 204 and 205 running every half hour during the day and just the one running every hour in evening. It’s worth taking a photo of the bus timetable which is posted at the stop you get off. We got off at Caracalla which is the stop by the baths. Single ticket 2.6 €.
We both enjoyed the full baths experience of sauna, scrub down, thermal waters, (I managed the cold plunge too but not hubby) cream up and then a wrap up in warm blankets followed by tea in the reading room. We stayed about 3.5 hours. This was a Monday afternoon, 1 - 4.30 pm, we found it was not busy, just one or two people in each room or bath so it didn’t feel too odd. Got out to find nice and sunny but somehow our legs wouldn’t work  so didn’t have a look around. Black clouds approaching so decided to get bus back to van. It was a beautiful location for a walk as the sun then came out, such a difference to the busy town.

I think we could have stayed overnight without problems but it felt isolated with no one else there so we moved to the free stellplatz at Gaggenau Thermalbad CC 53442 which was already occupied with about 12 units however no problem to park in one of the car spaces.
