A couple of days ago eBay sent an email telling me of autocruise motorhomes for sale. One of them was a Starburst at £8750. I clicked on Contact, and my details were already on the form! I asked where the motorhome was located and After I clicked send, I immediately realised the form looked dodgy, especially as it had my email, post code and phone number. I went straight back to the original listing and it had been deleted.

The following day I received this email A437E725-F234-4859-B689-6BC34A8B5439.jpeg

Over the weekend I received more emails and became very sure this was a scam of some kind, why would anyone sell a motorhome 20,000 less than it is worth!

Yesterday, eBay again sent me 3 new listings and one of them was a Auto Sleeper Nuevo, 2008, for £10,000, I clicked on Contact and although there was no completed form, it looked like the same sort of thing. Within half an hour that listing had been removed as well.

So, if something appears too good to be true, then it most certainly is, or is it 4FD3E868-55F5-42EC-9479-44BB81978E5F.jpeg??

Bloody hell ther getting good at this malarky
Bill
Yes that’s what I thought, it’s all very convincing. Where on the forum could I have put this to warn other funsters.?

Defo a scam, it caught me for £5.7k and exactly the same details, Scotland, going overseas, not using it, transfer the money via escrow and use this haulage delivery company. If you followed it through, they’d even send you transport paperwork, that then all disappears never to be seen again.

EBay weren’t interested, not in the slightest. I then found the same scam on eBay and set up a sting for it. EBay weren’t interested. After much investigation for me, the emails originated in the USA and bounced around a dozen different locations across the globe.

Be cautious everyone, as there’s some unscrupulous people out there. Don’t even fall for it if they provided a Passport and pictures as it’s all part of the very clever scam.

Quite right Bill, but the link was in eBay, to the right of the price of the motorhome.
The link in eBay, takes you to a scam eBay page that looks identical in every way to main eBay. Even the links work, but then takes you back to the real eBay. Took a lot to get me, but they did and that was 12 years ago. A lot more savvy now as there are a lot more scams.

Jim should have a page for scams and how to spot them! It was very convincing and I’m sure someone will fall for it.

Did you get your money back ?

No I never did. Police weren’t interested either. Said it was a task for Interpol who weren’t the least bit interested either.

The problem is that people see what appears to be a bargain and all ratio thinking goes out the window.
