5 years, feel free to ask me about the Carado!!
On my trip so far through Belgium, Luxembourg and France (sticking to the speed limits) I have had only one tailgaiter, what am I doing wrong ?? Is it "the brexit effect"?

maybe your grey waste tap is open so no one wants to get up close:)

I have found this, this trip and have put it down to the new speed limit, I think its a bloody good idea, believe it or not everyone seems to be sticking to 80 or less even lorry's, everyones going at the same speed not trying to overtake or stuck up your behind trying to push you, you can now cruise at 50 mph and no-one is blowing at you, best thing in years.

Nearly at the end of our 2 weeks jaunt and have Just realised that was the reason meself today.
Been a much more relaxed driving experience and less lorries on none motorway road i think as well which may also be as a result of new limits

We've driven on the open road today in France.

Mile after mile after mile of straight road with hardly any traffic.

A steady 80 km/h with no other traffic in front or behind.

I nearly finished 'The Times' crossword driving was so boring.

Safe - but boring ....

Yes but it is amazing to see how the French stick to it, I have found myself leaving the cars behind then look down at the Speedo and I have crept up to 60mph.

This was coming up across Sweden again today

Get excited if I see another vehicle and wave anyway camper or not (y)

Oh and I picked my nose a couple of times
If I had signal then I could have done the daily quiz .
And ,and I found that driving down the middle of the road is less bumpy

I have to agree, 50 MPH is a much more comfortable max speed to drive the N roads at, I am having a much better experience driving here than in 2016!

Unless you actually want to get anywhere of course.

The thing about living in Scotland is that I had to drive 6 hours and 300 miles just to get to the ferry so driving in Europe feels like driving in the backyard.

Then go on the dual carriageway or motorways, that's what we did on the way down 80 mph all the way
I understand. I like pottering too - not sure local tradesmen would be too keen though. On single carriageway roads in a mh if you can average 40mph you're doing OK.

We are a bit smaller than a normal MH thought ,more your trades mens van but we have found they mostly stick to 50 mph

Were travelling from Scotland to Italy. My wife thinks german drivers are worse than French. Some german drivers are down right idiots.
We came up behind hedge trimming lorry with lawn trimming lorry in front of him. We pulled out slightly so wife could see if safe to pass (were rhd). So car behind decides to pass, then another car with headlights on and horn blaring passes him. Sheer madness.

I could have run nearly as fast and improved my six pack ....

?
Any one seen Mr beans holiday film, where he nicks a moped and the owner catches him up walking, I think it's really funny.

I know what you mean, today on a long French road I nearly finished a 12 pack of beer....?

I wouldn't let the Gendarmes know that - we've seen more Gendarmes and Municipal police in the last five days than we've seen in twenty years of previously visiting France.

Why there's so many knocking about I don't know but it's unsettling.

Where are you mate, we ha ve been here 12 days and not seen one on the road, a few walking about in towns but only same as always, hope I'm not tempting fate.

6.21mph must make a huge difference

We did a three week spin down France into Piedmont, then over to Venice and back through the Alps and the Black Forest. My experience couldn't have been more different from yours, but admittedly, we do use Peage where we can.

We have a moho-trailer combo weighing just shy of 5 tons. I leave the tunnel and pin the cruise control on at 80 kph (whatever that is), full of virtue and bonhomie to all peoples. By the time I am on the run back from Troyes to Calais, having had three weeks of being overtaken and bumped by artics doing ninety plus and coaches doing hundred plus, my cruise control is racked up to 95 and my genial goodwill to other road users has totally evaporated.

Saw two Police cars in Italy, and one in France. The French, very politely, put a sign up half a mile from the next speed camera, so if you get done, you deserve it.

Sorry but don't understand why you would go on the motorway and then stick to 80 kph obviously every thing is going to be going faster.

We are 12m long and over 3500 kilos. I was told that in France, & Italy the legal limit for me is 80 kmph.

PLEASE tell me I'm wrong! I won't mind!

I really hate the 50 limit.. which might seem odd considering most of the time I dial in 50 and hit the button anyway.. ( economy rules ! )
The reason for the dislike is it is VERY easy to break the limit 'by accident'
When not on the button I find myself watching the speedo more than the road... not good !

If I am followed by 3 vehicles I pull over and let them pass. French find this manoeuvre very odd ::bigsmile:

If you are right then there's a heck of lot of long and heavy vehicles breaking the limit in France.

Where did you get the information about having to go no faster than 80 kmh - you are sure it wasn't 80 mph (130 kmh) which is the Motorway limit ?

:france: :france: :france: :france:

I have been delightfully misinformed on motorway speeds. As long as the bus is >3500 and the trailer braked, on the motorways i can do:

France, 90 apparently https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/travel/country/france/
In Germany it is 80. https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/travel/country/germany/
Italy & Ireland it is 80 as well
UK is 60 mph
But in lovely, lovely Austria, I can do a 100! But why would you want to speed through the loveliest country in Europe?
