changing a load of things again
Hi as you know I am looking at diff vans to convert. I am looking to have a 4 berth so looking at some XLWB. I am not sure what they mean by
L3 H5 EU5 or
435 L4 H2
R3500 L4 H3
R4500 L4 H2

I am guessing its down to weight, i think so i understand the 3500 and 4500. I passed my test back in 1979 so i think i can drive up to 7.5. Or have I got this all wrong.

Billy

EU5 sounds like engine grade new ones are E6d I believe

H is height and you need to decide how much headroom you need. I think H3 is pretty for MHs H4 is extra height. The L gives you 5.49, 6 or 6.36m length.

Yes you can drive up to 7.5t.

This is more typical of a Motorhome weight plate, often up to 3 plates on the vehicle the last one fitted (the converters) takes precedence.

3900 is tthe MAM
5500 GTW
1850 Front axle

I thought the significant date was 1st jan 1979..if you passed your test after that date then you do not have what is commonly known as grandfather rights and your licence is limited to 3500kg..

L & H refer to different types of panel van and have no bearing on motorhomes.

An L2 H2 is a small (transit connect) transit, a L3 H4 is a large transit.
In America its different, an L2 H2 is a full size European transit

If you still have a paper licence check it for categories, some people didn't get it included by error.
In fact check your licence in any case.
At renewal or name/address change some lost other classes as well.... Particularly motorcycle entitlement.

L = Length H= Height L2 H2 is a shorter and lower van than L3 H3

E5 is a vehicles emission standard EU6 is the latest but on Fiat Ducato there is EU 6 and the latest EI6D ( uses add blue)

Yes it’s does have a bearing if it’s a Pannel Van such as a HymerCar etc.
