With changed plans for travelling in the next 2 years, I am thinking of downsizing the van.
I have no idea of the current value of my current van and so I approached one of the trade dealers for a valuation.
They have suggested a valuation of £33k for my Carthago Mega Liner Is that reasonable?

The headline spec is as follows:
Base vehicle: MAN TGL 8.21
Full air braking and rear levelling
EP hydraulic levelling jacks
200 AH Victron LifePO4 Smart battery
Sterling Pro B to B Charger
Alden Phenix Tracking Solar panel
2 additional 100 watt Solar panels
Alde central heating with engine heat exchanger
Additional Webasto Thermo Top C Diesel heater
100ltr fixed Gas tank
200 ltr water and waste tanks
TVs in front and bedroom
Oyster 85cm Satellite
Rear view camera
Strikeback Alarm
5m electric awning

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Richard

Thats well worth the money in my mind.

Best time to sell, so good luck 🤞🏻

By way of interest, what mpg are you getting?

PP Bear, Thanks but does that mean it's too low an offer or it's a good offer?
As far as mpg goes, on the last trip of 5100km to Greece I averaged 7.8ltrs per k which I think is about 22mpg.

How is it plated? Above 7500, you need a class 2 HGV licence, which makes the potential buyers group a lot smaller, but regardless of that, if the MH is in good working order, good service history , new MOT, everything works as should I think it would sell for around 40/45, give it a go first, don’t sell to a dealer, if you don’t want the hassle of private sale, use a broker to do it for you?

Dutch 68,
It's plated at 7499kg and thanks for your advice, that's probably the way to go.

It looks really low to me. I recon Travel World would sell it for about £45 k. But if that's the price you're happy with, and there are no major issues that should sell quickly at that price :giggle:

I don’t normally look when this sorta thread appears but thought I’d be nosey, I’m with Chazzer924, looks too cheap, you’ll guarantee a quick sale but up the anti.
Looks fab, by the way, credit to you

I agree that a dealer would sell it for a lot more, possibly as high as 50K in the current market. What's the mileage?

Ask a high price, at least £60k and accept the nearest offer to the price you want.

You say you asked the dealer for a suggested valuation. I presume you were asking the dealer how much they would offer you for it and not how much they thought you should put it on the market for?

Do those knifes stay on the magnetic strip while driving? I've seen a few vans with that now and I always wonder if it would be possible for one to detach after some hard breaking and make its way to the cab area

You should test them the same as ones you fit in the kitchen . When drying the knives throw them from 2 or 3m & if the magnets are ok they will catch them.If they fail to do so they aren't any good. #gus'stoptips

Just a thought but what about a sale or return via the dealer, agree a margin with the dealer that they have for selling the vehicle and you get more rather than a straight sale.

I thought exactly the same.
The sound quality came nowhere near his surround sound system, and it would appear that sky launched it before all the bugs had been ironed out, using feedback from customers to do their research & development.

No standard TV sound system will ever come close to a surround sound system; surprised that he ever thought it would.
