Usually we have used a digital radio in the van - but now find that reception is a lot better on the iphone - I don't need a massive wireless speaker - recommendations?

Hi there. We have a Bose soundlink which is superb but a tad expensive to be honest. I bought a refurbished one from Amazon

Loads in the family here.. some have Bose and other JBL
Tried Bose but ended up with JBL.. seem have a better range while the Bose seems biased towards the base end of the sound spectrum

Hmmm- just checked price of Bose - eek! It's just for listening to the news. We don't watch TV in the van (took it out) - usually read and (in my case) edit photos. We don't listen to music either - so these two are probably waaay better than what I need. Thanks for the info.

We also have a Bose outdoor speaker

I have a Roberts DAB radio that doubles up as a bluetooth or Aux speaker its the older version of this https://www.robertsradio.com/en-gb/radios/blutune-t2 and its sound quality is blooming great, I use it as DAB but as yourself if DAB signal is poor swop to iPhone or even a FLAC player

Bose is excellent. Mine must be at least 6 years old and works well. Is your phone quite new? Mine has double speakers and is fine for listening to the news, or even a radio drama, without an external speaker.

I bought an Anker Sound core mini, it's small but placed on the draining board or similar surface it produces excellent sound with bass. It also has an FM radio and micro SD card slot for playing MP3 files.

It's also good for amplifying the lap top speakers when the sound is poor, small enough to take on a plane, aluminium build quality, long battery life, all for 20 quid 🤩🎶

Amazon product ASIN B01HTH3C8S

We bought an Ultimate Ears Boom before we left as it has a 3.5mm input so can plug it into the TV, works with Bluetooth, it’s shockproof so no probs with dropping it, waterproof & it floats! Sound quality is excellent and it’s USB chargeable. One charge lasts for over 20 hours.

Highly recommended!

Ultimate Ears Megaboom. Superb quality sound, battery lasts for ages and is rechargeable from USB.

From an iPhone Airplay, which is lossless, is better than Bluetooth.

We use a QiLive Q12L Auchan own brand picked up in France whilst on offer at 12 Euros. It's excellent for the money.

We use the Bose item, and yes it is expensive, but the sound quality is very good, linking it via bluetooth to the laptop when watching DVDs also means the speaker can be placed near to us meaning the volume can be kept low..

However, if you search for 'Bluetooth Speakers' on say, eBay, there are many at around ten pounds or so.

I take a Bluetooth speaker away with us (Blaupunkt) but tend to play the radio through the TV as most of the channels we need are there...

JBL Flip 5. Superb sound, waterproof, small, light, rechargeable via USB, long lasting charge.

Have similar but recently purchased bluetooth tracks emitter that plugs into earphones e ha m plug on tv so no more draping wires .on ebay less than £4

We use a Minirig in the van - about £130 from memory - takes up very little room, British made and great sound. If you get more ambitious it’s easy to make a stereo pair, or even add a subwoofer.

Hi, I bought one if these and the sound is good but, I get a regular beep from it and the music stops for a second as though it is listening for me to say something like Alexa or siri does on other bits of kit. Do your do the same ?

Any chance of a link please?

Another vote for the Bose. I have the Soundlink 111 and the Mini. The Soundlink has a better overall sound but the Mini is more than adequate, amazing sound for the size

We have this too, charge up whilst driving, you'll get 10 hours play time. We used ours all around europe listening to BBC sounds or music on phone. Brilliant sound too.
