I was wondering if anyone knew which model Krupps coffee machine Carthago supply as standard with a Chiq C-Line? Most seem too big to fit in the slidy thing.

Nespresso I believe, we deleted it off the extras list at purchase, as I have the same model at home and we dont use that anymore.
I cannot find the model number as I think they have now upgraded their models, and have changed the shape slightly, well they are more expensive anyway.

Our Carthago didn't come with one thank goodness otherwise I'd have nowhere to put my kettle and cups! :giggle:

We didn’t order a coffee machine with our Carthago but have added one since.
We use a Dolce Gusto Piccolo which fits onto the drop down holder very snugly.
It makes such good coffee that we bought another one for indoors. (y)

Kettle - luxury! I have to make do with one of these to save gas. 😉

Thanks Clarky, ours didn't come with one either, but my wife likes a nice cup of coffee in the morning. The drop down holder is empty currently, so I thought I'd find something to go in there.

Thanks for the reply Les. The manual talks about a Krupps machine. As I don't drink coffee, I know nothing about all this new capsule malarky. Is Krupps a manufacturer or a type of capsule?

The Krupp family, a prominent 400-year-old German dynasty from Essen, is famous for their production of steel, artillery, ammunition and other armaments. Just saying.

Our van is fitted with a Nespresso machine.

These are great espresso machines save a capsule and save the planet (I know I will get flamed for this)

The Guy who invented the capsule machine, now regrets having done so as it is just something else like plastic bags using a resource that doesn't need to be used.

Just buy loose coffee and either of the above and make yourself a great cup of coffee, or if you really really want that expresso when you are away why not buy a proper espresso machine. A budget machine such as the Gaggia Classic or splash out on a Rocket.

You may not be able to display your machine behind sliding glass doors but if you are environmentally conscious save a capsule and just use loose coffee (its cheaper too).

What's wrong with a cafetiere? You want weak coffee; use less coffee. You want strong coffee; use more coffee and if you like more mellow coffee just add a pinch of salt (yes really!) to the coffee when brewing. Coffee ground disposal? That's what the Thetford is for!. Kettle, coffee, cafetiere = sorted! Simples!

I think Krups make the Dolce Gusto machines. Give it a google.

I am a big fan of Dolce Gusto.

Nothing wrong with a Cafetiere they have fallen out of favour by some but it cannot produce an Espresso

Did they come from Ann Summers? ;)
We use an Aeropress in the van, works well for us.

But always did wonder what that strange taste was...

Krupp is one of the manufacturers of Nespresso machines (not sure if it not just badge engineering) - others include Magimix, Sage and Kitchen Aid. So yes, a Krups is a Nespresso. As for which model, not sure but certainly one of the smaller ones. Pixie and the straight-sided version of the Essenza look good candidates and are relatively inexpensive models.

I use a Nespresso machine in the van (not got a machine lift in our lowly Carthago, but Essenza fits very well under the kitchen shelf. )

As for those saying you shouldn’t use Nespresso, well, each to their own - and at home I am a coffee geek- but in the van even I balk at the mess from ground coffee, let alone from grinding it fresh, which is what I would really want to do. (We do have a Bialetti as backup, though.) And as for the response from my wife to the mess from ground coffee - forceful, to say the least!

The Dolce Gusto machines are made by different manufacturers to a standard design. I assume the same at Nesspresso, just different pods and different design of machines.
Krupps and Delonghi are two of the manufacturers but the machines are the same apart from colours as far as I can tell.
The Dolce Gusto machines are very cheap to buy but the hit comes later in the price of the pods. A bit like printers and ink cartridges. :Eeek:
Do make sure that you chose a machine with an automatic cut out when it’s filled the cup. Some of the lowest price ones are manual and you have to watch them.......or have hot coffee everywhere.
WARNING. If you intend to run one from your battery’s via an inverter they will give the batteries a caning. You need a good battery bank or lithium.

Richard.

What is this “coffee” of which you speak? English breakfast, Darjeeling and Earl Grey is the way..... :whistle2:
Now let's not start on the advantages of a Teasmaid!!

Whatever they can buy for £50 and flog to a mug for £600. :ROFLMAO:
You’re not far wrong there. Our C-Tourer came with a fitted machine (I can’t remember the make sorry but it was common) which I looked up and sold for about £60. Then again the basic £150 tv fitted was something like £1,000 on the extras list..........

Thanks everyone for your help and explanations.
