If we still need a negative test to return to the UK, what happens if you test positive on that test? Is there somewhere specific you have to isolate?
Also, if dog has had his worming tablet etc already at French vet, how soon can the treatment be given again?
I am wondering if all this caper would just create so much worry that France is not worth the bother, but I still crave going!!

You have to Quarantine at an allocated location to be decided by the French authorities. At least that is what I understood a couple of weeks ago, when this thought occurred to me. I did not pay to much attention since I was sure my French pcr would be negative.

Yep, it's all that lot that's making us think twice about not going. If you test positive, you won't be able to travel home. I have no idea about the dog, it's a good point.

Where/how is your test being done?

Don‘t overly worry about worming tablet they are often regularly given

Landy Andy - don't know yet about where test would be done. I think pharmacies do them?? We haven't left UK yet or even booked. I'm just trying to process all the what it's so I can make a decision. I thought I'd read you had to let specific time pass before the dog can be wormed etc at French vet. That said, I'm pretty sure people have timed it badly before now and needed to get it re-done. Also thinking a lot of people seem surprised at testing positive with this new variant - passes on more easily and fewer symptoms for many it would seem ...

A very good reason not to go ! For my sins i spent two lockdowns abroad absolute nightmare .

Presumably it'd be O.K. if the quarantine took you over the 90 days............
Apparently not, there was a tale on here with a members Son who's isolation took him over the 90 days and they gave him all sorts of grief and a fine from memory

My daughter took some time until she managed a negative test.

That was from Switzerland.Odd lot there. EU rules state overstay due to + test is perfectly ok as long as can be medically confirmed.

We are taking nhs tests with us and doing these to make sure we are negative before taking the official test.
In which case take 2 tests on consecutive days. Lateral flow tests are only around 70% sensitive on a single application in asymptomatic individuals - ie will only pick up 70% of true positives. Two tests increases this to high 90s% and on a par with PCR. It why we test twice weekly in NHS with Lat Flow.

Isolate on a quiet campsite somewhere.
You need to prove you are negative before you enter campsites in France now. I suppose Aires would be OK since there is no reception.

How is that done and how recent must the neg test be?
Will the site's Reception desk have kits to test you on the spot?
I don't know how it works in practice since it is a recent change. I think there's a thread on the subject saying that it is not always requested by campsites. I'm intending to go back to France in September, but don't often use campsites anyway.

Yeah that would be the plan Aires or CC sites... 👍

That's another grey area then and seems to depend upon the whim of the staff, along with the debate as to whether border staff do or do not check your fridge, your health cover, whether you have sufficient funds and the other newly imposed Brexit and Covid documentation.
However, the French and Spanish seem to have always had a relaxed approach to some legislation. I have never been asked to show my vehicle documentation, or reflective jackets, warning triangle, spare light bulb kit,.............
In markets here poultry must be displayed in chilled cabinets yet in France they just plonk them on a trestle table in the sun and the flies.

Interesting thread especially if you’re stuck abroad!!
I’ve just google how long to test negative after a positive test?
Answer, weeks or even months!!
So you test positive, and you don’t test negative for two months?? Then what??
I know about the contagious period but will the authorities take it into account, my guess is they won’t take any chances, if you’re positive you're there till you’re negative? I will stand to be corrected🤷‍♂️

Your double jabbed certificate is good enough.

Don't know about anyone else but we would struggle to store enough food etc to last long enough to cover isolation and I doubt many would buy it in advance of doing a test just in case they were positive. I also don't know if French supermarkets deliver to Aires or if using a public dump point counts as isolating.I wonder what the official response would be to a motorhomer testing positive do they have isolation Aires?. Sounds like no-one has really thought out providing a way for isolation to work before allowing travel.
