one Moho, two avtex tv’s only one picks up any tv channels, can’t see what the difference is using the a standard Omi-directional aerial not the strongest of signal where we are are, anyone any thoughts of what to check TIA?

Are they both using the same aerial but at different times.

Yes same aerial, tried the main one initially didn’t pick up any channels when tuning in then I tried the other(only just fitted it for this trip) and it picked up all channels straight away, so I tried the other tv again still nothing

Try the old-fashioned coat hanger method. It might surprise you.

If the new one works OK on the same aerial cable then the old one maybe needs the settings looking at.
It could be the input source which has got changed.
Got to settings and select DTV in SOURCE then retune. .

I have no experience of Avtex but they all work in a similar way.

Do they both have the same power requirements?

Charlie

Does it have DTV and Analogue tuning?

Possibly trying to tune old analogue channels

Difficult to work out what's wrong without being there and seeing it.

Omni directional aerials are simply not up to modern digital tv.
You might find that the two aerial supplies feeding your TVs has one more powerful point than the other, either way you need to upgrade to a modern aerial.
We live line of sight to the nearest transmitter & omni directional aerial simply doesn't work, even though I could throw a stone at the transmitter.
I think your lucky that any of your sets pick up signals.

Have you tried the power lead from the one that works in the other tv, I was having trouble getting a picture and the lead turned out to be the problem

I think it's the same coax, simply swapping tvs over.
Or that's how my first question was meant to sound.

No help to you but I'm confused as to why you don't just use the TV that picks up all the channels? Surely you don't want to watch two TVs (in the m/h) at the same time? o_O

Thoughts - is the power to the aerial from the TV switched on on one and not the other? Not sure I've put that properly but one of the experts will know what I mean.

Does the aerial lead have a splitter in it? We used a splitter to feed 2 tv’s using a very strong signal but despite the description and reviews saying there is very little loss of signal, one of the tv’s picked up far fewer channels than the other. Without the splitter it was fine.
Now we just have one tv in use

Mine did the same thing it was the lead that had slightly come out of the aerial socket the one that the pole goes up

Is there an amplifier powered by the TV if so, is the antenna power switched on, on the 2nd TV.

Thanks all for your responses, I’ve changed the coaxial cable with the one that worked and I now have channels so clearly an issue with the one supplied thanks again

:xeek: I asked in post 5 if you were using the same aerial cable which under normal circumstances would presumably include the same coax. :xdoh:

Best to make up your leads from decent quality satellite cable. Most pre made fly leads with moulded plugs are rubbish, surprising how much signal loss you get over 2 m. If the signal level is not that good to start with and you use a poor quality cable the result with DTV is a blank screen.

I know thats why I tried changing them the cable is the same from the aerial which was dealer fitted but not from the socket to the the tv’s
