Out for a few days in mhome and it stank horrible, checked the toilet, had emptied and chemical in, grey water empty etc.
Went to bed last night and it was horrible, closed vents as thought it was neighbours on site.
Got up checked everything again and then I woke up , after being parked up at home for a few weeks, shower drain trap dry:doh: pop in a bit of water and smelly stuff , sorted, must muck grey tank out .

Oh Dear!, sounds nasty, I think you grey tanks could do with a good scouring.
I know folks on here recommend Bio Sachets, even bleach, but the OH bought this stuff by mistake thinking it was toilet chemical, never mind it is good stuff and a little goes a long way.

There is presumably a residue in the bottom of the tank as I always open valve and let grey either run out to hedge where allowed or into tote tank so the tank sides should be reasonably clean.
Will set about cleaning when home.

I found in France that if any of the guest rooms weren’t used for a while their shower traps would dry out and fill their bathrooms with a horrible smell. I had to remember to go round running each shower every week or so.

Have had a couple of horrible smells in ours when we haven’t used it for a while. One similar to above but from the kitchen sink, probably from the same cause; another one from the sink when we had left the glass cover down with a damp sponge and a jug of water in the bowl. Black mould everywhere! We also had smell from the fridge. That was caused by mould in the freezer box because you can’t leave that open like you can the fridge door.

Always make sure the sink cover is up now and nothing left in the sink. The freezer is removable and we no longer use it, preferring to have extra space in the fridge

It opens on a drop down spring hinge and needs to be jammed open which means the fridge door has to be wide open and not just on the latch. The fridge door then blocks the aisle and catching it when passing either knocks it further open so that the tray used to jam the freezer door falls out and the freezer door springs closed or the fridge door closes onto the tray possibly damaging the door shelves or the freezer compartment. Much easier just to take the freezer box out!

This is the first time for over 20 years that we have had a freezer compartment inside the fridge (either in a van or at home). We have had separate fridge/freezers which is why I forgot that it needed to be left open.

At home we have to remember to occasionally run a little water into the bath that we never use or the trap runs dry and lets the lovely odours from the septic system invade the room. Once stayed in a well known international chain hotel starting with an 'H' that seemed to have a bit of an issue with its drainage system, causing a vacuum that sucked out the water from the traps: we returned to a room that absolutely stank. The smell subsided once the traps were refilled.

Sat in the back of my Ambulance with a patient once, thought Jesus Christ, I wish they wouldn’t fart! Then thought they had actually done a number 2 en-route. Checked all was well and they didn’t flinch, yup all good.

Sat there heaving all the way to hospital, cussing how disgusting some people were. Imagine my shame on looking down when we got there to see a massive dog shit hanging off my boot and all over the truck. ??
