In preparation of cooking my own turkey dinner in the van on Christmas Day, I had a trial run last weekend, part of which was cooking a cranberry stuffing. The recipe for the stuffing included a glass of brandy, something I don’t normally drink.
Rather than buying the cheapest brandy for cooking with, I paid a little extra thinking the left over could come away in the van with me for an extra tipple.

All I can add is, I now like brandy and I’m looking for recommendations for a nice bottle for Christmas.

Hi there
This brandy is an absolute dream.
STORY TIME ... France holds an International Brandy Exhibition Competition.
France being France expect to win all gold awards because they are the "home of brandy".
This supermarket entry beat £400 bottles of brandy and other well known brands, winning the gold award. ( don't forget judged by French, in France ... quite an accomplishment)
Aldi Chevalier Brandy ... at £15 a bottle !!
The taste is so smooth, to my taste better than Remi. Every one I share this drink with remarks on the mmmm flavour. Me ... I only partake for the medicinal benefits.

Cognac or Armagnac..........the latter for me BUT Calvados is my ultimate and if you use a little for cooking you'll get the deep, rich taste of apple too...hmmm!
All are brandy really but the first two are made from the white grape and are different by region, hence their names and the Calvados is made from apples in Normandy and you can get some decent English "Apple Brandy".
I scuba dive and often have a single Courvoisier in the bar especially in winter and it's lovely........but only in that environment because I wouldn't give it house space, never mind drink it at home.........strange things, taste buds and the environment your in!!!!!!!!

vega cadur solera from lidl,s spain is my favourite but also use vega cadur bebida espirituosa if using in cooking or mixing with other drinks .
all best bought in spain.

My choice as well or any other Spanish brandy. In my opinion Spain produces a better brandy than an equivalent priced French one..
Soberano at €8 a litre, excellent. I'm not sure France has anything to offer at that price. I always bring a few bottles back, my neighbour who keeps an eye on the house when we're away likes it too.

I do exactly the same. ... Can't be beat for price or quality. IMO.

"Courvoisier" - only fit for cooking IMHO. Also, not too popular with the 'locals' around here which must say something.

In fact it isn't even stocked in our local S/market

Mascaro Spanish. Not generally available in supermarkets, corked top. Quality stuff at 12 euros a bottle.
