Hi all hope someone can help on this. Our heating has locked out with 5 bars showing. I have tried the reset method of holding the buttons down at the same time but no luck. The air blown heater doesn’t work and we’re away in Germany atm. Any advice or things to try would be much appreciated. Thanks.

First get the hob burning to prove gas is purged in the pipe, then re do the lock out procedure.

Hi Paul. Thanks for quick response. Have had gas hob burner working and re-tried lockout reset but still no luck.

Try disconnect the power to the whale system, pull the fuse, leave it for 5 mins and power it up. Propex lock out is a bit different, but similar to whale; the lock for propex is like this:
Starting from on position on to off-to on- to off and back on within 3 seconds.

Someone else posted yesterday with a Whale heating lockout problem which may be worth seeing/following.........

Did you try pushing button in at the space heater itself to reset?

If the fault doesn’t clear 5 lights “try to reset if fault persists contact Whale” I’m afraid you’re stuffed it’s more than likely a blown circuit board in the heater itself. I had it happen twice I’m on my third heater luckily still under warranty I still had to get the heater to Ireland for Whale to repair. I feel your pain. Only thing you can do is get a cheap blown air heater and stay on sites with EHU. Sorry can’t give you more positive info. I'm sure the heater being underslung at the back of the van water gets into the internals and fries the board on mine it was the board on the gas side that had gone causing the lockout that won't clear so you cant even use on EHU

Just tried tonight again and heater fired up for a while and then stopped...would it fire up at all if it was a circuit board?

I think yours is a different heater to mine and Hector 21 ours are under the van. If yours fired up then it isn't the circuit board but something else. I hope you both manage to get it sorted.

Check intake and exhaust for obstruction,

Hi ours didn’t fire up unfortunately. Still not working. You say check intake and exhaust but not sure where to look for exhaust ?

Hector I haven't a clue either...husband is having another go at it tonight. If I find out I'll let you know

Sorry i just posted on the other thread check your regulator age as it may be clogged and preventing enough pressure to the heating the fix is to change regulator

Flue, exhaust gases, either under the van or on the side, the burn gases are expelled out by the fan, in the same time as it draws in. If there is obstruction the flame will cut out due to oxygen (air) starvation. If I cover the flue with a cardboard the boiler cuts out.
