Want to spend a couple of nights as close to Weymouth as possible. Have tried some research :active: but without local knowledge it's difficult to pinpoint anywhere in particular. Would prefer EHU, etc but open to suggestions, all clean, please

There is plenty of parking spaces for Motorhomes at the swannery car park, very close to the town centre and only about 5 mins walk to the sea front if you want a day out in Weymouth

East Fleet campsite is really nice although a little pricey. Easy bike ride on traffic free cycle paths into town. Bus stop at the top of the road as well.

Fleet campsite as suggested, and not just because a member of my wife's family owns it

Really good camping accessory shop there as well! Also the campsite has a deal with a local taxi company and it was £7 to get back from Weymouth when we went in April.

Now - tell me!

Donkeys years ago, MkI husband and I camped on a farm site along that bit of coast, the entrance was through an imposing gateway, with a hand, holding a sword, coming out of it and the leg end 'Moonfleet Manor' writ upon the post.

You went through and along this road towards the sea, and the site was on the right . If you carried on along the road, you came to a great big old house (the Manor which was and is an hotel) where the only public bar was in the basement and very popular it was too - live folk group on the night we went.

Is that site still open or was it closed when the hotel went more upmarket?

Still an "Upmarket Hotel".... kicking off at over £100 a night.. :Eeek:

I might be wrong ... But I think "Sea Barn Farm" is the closest camping to the Manor.. (y)
