I thought that I had satisfied myself with this issue having been to a weighbridge loaded as we would proceed on a trip. Our Motorhome is plated at 3500 kg and we came in under the limit. I was going through the various bits of paperwork that I have and found an NCC Certificate of Compliance which states that the Maximum Technical Permissible Laden Mass is 3650 kg. is this a mistake or something else to confuse me with!

Never heard of an NCC C of C, the relative C of C will be the converters one which could be higher if your van has been downplated to 3500. What's on your V5?

Hi Lenny
The V5 says 3500kg. The certificate is stamped by Autotrail.

You can probably uprate to 3650 without having to do any modifications. Just make sure that all drivers have C1 on their licence first!

As Bill said.....update it if you have C1 on your licence.
Unless you spend a lot of time in Europe, different speed limits etc, it will be worth it just for the reduce road tax rate...currently £165 pa...plus the extra payload.

We have an Auto-Trail and had the choice of registering it at 3500 or 3650kg, so it should be capable of running at 3650kg if you feel the need to re-register it.

Hi
Thanks for your replies. I do have a C1 licence (I also have a full motorbike licence dating back to the early 70's which is a frightening thought as I could now ride any bike that I wanted to and quickly fall off!!)
I do not wish to uprate at the moment as we are comfortable keeping within 3500kgs and also because we are allowing our children to use it and none of them have a C1.

Id say keep it 3500 for the kids to use but as least you know if they do overload it the chassis can handle it.

We moved to 3850 just the kids couldn't use it !
I've taken that principle to the next stage, not only have I taken it over 3500kg so the kids can't use it, I deliberately got one with only one bed, so the grandkids can't use it either :D
