Waterloo Battle site Belgium

Even today artifacts are being found on the site.... Cannon balls, musket balls etc.
They say a cannon ball weighed around a pound and a half and even though the opposing soldiers were a long way apart a ball would easily pass through more than one man.
Scary when you consider they just marched towards each other on open land.

Anyone been ! I plan to visit early September and stay overnight in the new Aire. Their website looks like I will need a full day to take it all in. Looks awesome.
That sounds very interesting. Please update us when you have been.

I seem to recall from work meetings at the Green Pig bar, that the Waterloo monument is a "part" of England, gifted to England by some unhappy Belgiums. Or something like that. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Would be surprised if it was as The Lion Monument was erected to commemorate the wounding of the Netherlands's King's son at the battle. Could be wrong though.
The battle itself was a coalition of armies, one of which was commanded by the Duke of Wellington, fighting on Netherlands's soil against a French army led by Napoleon.
