Hello,

I have Malaga 5E heater which is a few years old now. It has a small leak coming from underneath water tank in the middle, where the blue seal is. Water is slowly dripping even when the heater is not being used.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? And any ideas if a fix is possible without replacing the heater? I'm currently on a long trip in Europe so ordering a replacement and doing the work is not ideal at this time. But I was thinking if there's some suitable sealant which I can apply to fix this.

I have attached a picture which shows the the blue seal which appears to be a little deformed and there is some limescale too.

Thanks!

I've had a similar problem which was due to corrosion between the faces of the tank and the front housing. I dismantled the unit and fitted a new seal.

Thanks for sharing this. Did you replace a gasket between the front and back (https://www.propexleisure.co.uk/shop/malaga-tank-gaskets/)? Or are you referring to the blue seal which can be seen from the outside?
Hmm. I replaced both and some other bits (incl a leaky water outlet spigot) whilst it was stripped down. It was a while before the pandemic so the details are a bit murky now. The gaskets from Propex seem dearer than I recall but I bought mine from an eBay seller.
