About to buy again!
Exp
Several years
Just finished my latest upgrade. There was a blank cover next to the fridge that was hiding a nice little cupboard. Took the blank front off, fitted some hinges and shelves and hey presto a very useful cupboard. Just waiting on the door catch from Autotrail to finish the job. For the life of me I cannot understand why it was not done when built.

Maybe on some models it hides TV cabling? Or it's for the table stowage?

Nice job though.

No doubt it was a £1,000 option on the super delux version!

We found spaces in our van for optional items which were not taken when the van was specced.
Most of which cost silly money on order, but like you for the sake of a bit of time & effort we can fit ourselves.

I'm probably going to fit the external rear mounted spare tyre holder.
Hymer wanted over £1,000 on order, and won't sell the part for aftermarket install.
I recon I can get a steel fabricator to make the part for under £200 and it will take me an afternoon to fit.

Table storage is in cupboard below and just a few wires tucked in the top.

Lots of manufacturers design bits of furniture to fit in multiple layouts. Some are cleverer than others at doing modular designs.

My Geist i585 is a low volume UK only model. It's very well put together, but there are some bits which show that it is a parts bin special. Like the three drawers in the kitchen that wouldn't have worked because the bathroom door is in the way on our stubby 6m. So they've screwed the drawer fronts together to make it a cupboard door. It's almost seamless...

I've thought of doing the same on our Hymer. Let me know what you go for. I was thinking of putting a bracket up from the towbar.

If you have a towbar, and you dont normally trail anything or use a towball mounted bike rack, then I'd be very inclined to use a modified second hand towball mounted bike rack as the spare wheel carrier.

Or if the tow ball is on a plate bolted to the swan neck, then you can fit a spacer with a vertical upside down U shaped hoop to mount the tyre

I'm trying to do this. (As I dont have a tow bar)

I do have a bike rack attached to the van. I think I might be able to put a wheel where you are planning to put yours without impeding the bike rack. Haven't measured it yet...
