I've just had a wierd experience at AirePark Biarritz (Milady). We'd been on the aire all afternoon and when we left for an evening stroll, I went to lock the van and the central locking wasnt working. Strange I thought, must be the battery so locked it with the key. Then the Strikeback wouldnt work either. The light came on the blue fob but I didnt get the double indicator flash. After I'd tried the spares and they didnt work either, I thought there may be a 'jammer' in the area. I asked another english couple nearby (10 yards away) but their central locking was fine.

We also have the Metatrack immboliser from VanBitz and thankfully that was working so I just made sure all the mechanical stuff was on and 'valuables' were in the safe!!

Anyway, we're in Biscarrosse now and everything is working fine. I can only think that the only other van parked near us all the time we we're there had some sort of jammer (German plate). I can't for the life of me think why though.

I don’t believe the alarm fob works in the same way as a ‘normal’ key fob I would have a word with Vanbitz as I am sure they said it cannot be read by a scanner or jammed.

Could one of your doors have not been closed properly? Central locking won’t work if one is open and your alarm may not set either. 🤷‍♂️

It could be many things, I once had a problem because my wireless doorbell button had stuck and that jammed the remote for the van

Sometimes they simply cry wolf for no apparent reason, you might say have a moody moment

The motor mover we had on our first caravan would knock out all the wireless remotes in the local area as soon as I switched the mover remote on. If we were first on site I used to do it for a laugh when our friends arrived and would try to use their caravan movers.

Give the door a bloody good slam, it should reset👍

Probably not deliberate jamming but quite possibly the nearby van was causing radio interference. Improper use of a mobile signal booster is one possibility.

Thanks for the replies, very helpful. Looks like it could be a bit of a 'glitch' and nothing sinister. Thanks again

I would suggest local interference.

A pal of mine parked his motorbike outside a hotel for the night. Next morning no action on the alarm and would not start.

He thought the alarm was faulty and the immobiliser was still set. About half hour latter the hotel owner came out and suggested he move the bike about a metre. Started fine. Seems the cables under the car park often did that to vehicles.😳
