Have only transited Wales en -route to Holyhead Port. I/we need a break and have decided to spend 10 days touring Wales at the end of July. Suggestions where to stay, visit etc would be welcome. We both enjoy walking/cycling. Open to any suggestions.

Only 2 replies. Do motorhomers not like Wales?

Pembrokeshire is stunning with some brilliant sites, pub stops etc. Wild camping is frowned upon at this time of year.
Look at Searchforsites app for stopovers.
Have a great holiday. Croeso

What are you looking for or just happy to poodle. Do you want site recommendation or places to visit. Elan valley is often overlooked. Are you arriving holyhead or pembroke/fishguard? It it a circular route or using different ports. All this depends on what's available in the time you have there is so much some popular areas snowdon etc will be manic as it's school holidays. Other less known areas will be easier

Conway castle ,Brecon Beacons National park
, Snowdonia National Park , Llandudno .
Caernarfon Castle , Pembrokeshire Peninsula .
Llangollen Canal . lsle of Anglesey .
Just a Few for you :smiley: Hope this helps.

We just spent 8 days on Anglesey. Beautiful beaches, lovely villages and some nice people but many do not like motorhomes. ‘Over Night Parking Strictly Forbidden’ sighs all over the place. Many are not official so take no notice.
Have fun.

Wye valley has been good.
But we have had e bikes and motorbike

We love Wale's and wild camp all over the place. Shell Island is very popular on here.

Snowdonia... Min y don. Exceeded my expectations, superb, huge beach next door, Harlech castle over the road, lovely little town. Book local restaurants early.

If you are good at cycling then it's not "too" far to the brilliant Mawdach Trail starting at Barmouth.

Of course the easy Llanberris Trail up Snowdon is a must if you can get there, plenty of sites nearby.

You can park at the top of the overflow carpark (not overnight) at Coed y Brenin walking/mountain biking centre, which is well worth half a day.

All the popular areas will be busy and many of the car parks were prebooting. Need to check snowdon etc.

Was in Llanberis the weekend and it was heaving. Still one of the finest places in the UK though IMHO.

Fforest fields is a good site with some great cycling and walks thereabouts.
Red kite is an excellent site with walks up to origin of Severn and Wye.

We did a tour of the Llyn Peninsula earlier this year. We stayed at campsites near Morfa Nefyn, Aberdaron and Abersoch. There are loads of campsites near these towns. Morfa Nefyn is great for the coastal path walk and the fact there is a pub on the sheltered and beautiful beach. Aberdaron is a picturesque village with a few bars and restaurants, and fab beaches. Also you can pickup the coastal path here and walk to the foot of the peninsula. Abersoch has beautiful beaches, plenty of pubs and places to eat, also coastal paths in both directions. All the coastal walks offer fantastic views. We also stayed at a campsite near Criccieth but I wouldn't recommend that as a place to go walking but it does have a an old castle perched on a hill. One word of warning, this part of Wales does not have many large supermarkets, although there is one in Pwllheli. So suggest you stock up well be fore you stop anywhere for any length of time.

Celtic Camping.

Near St David's and on the Welsh Coastal Path;

Good for walking and cycling. Abereiddy and the Blue Lagoon a good walk along the cliff tops.

Cycle into St David's fo coffee shop and local supermaket, not to foget the Hand Made Chocolate shop.

Park Farm, Llangattock;

Spacious campsite but can get busy. A short walk to the village pub that sell good beer and very nice food.

A slightly longer walk or cycle to the canal that runs from Brecon to Newport, you can walk or cycle the towpath.

A shorter ride to Abergavenny, a market town, Tuesdays, or there is a village bus. Parking is a nightmare on market day.

He would allow motorhomers to park on his and, although unofficially, what happened?
Yep, they left a massive mess so he put large boulders to top it happening, and who can blame him

LLigwy beach, there was a section specifically for motorhomes, signs on other parts of the car park, NO motorhome parking, what happened? Yep they simply ignored the signs, parked in the best spots, sod the rules.. Consequence? Yep now a fee for parking and APNR. Its a private car park and there no free parking for disabled.

When I would go and visit my parents over Xmas, I would visit daily, and let Tilly run free, now I'm not going to pay for that..

Cemlyn another one abused..

Many places that I have parked my car for free has been abused by a few idiots, now we all have to suffer..
