We are looking for somewhere to stay near or in the Elan Valley for one night, ideally walking distance to a good pub for dinner.

Recommendations eagerly awaited.

TIA

Have a look at Elan Oaks, pub over the road.

Off subject I know but I saw your flag today on the top of a motorhome at the balloon fiesta and Wondered where it was from. Thanks for showing it in your Avatar. Can't help with suggestion for a meal though SORRY

You can stay in the main town Smithfield car park, just go right down to the bottom and park against the fence(y), the white cottage over to the right used to be mine and even I've camped there:p ( don't ask)

You could stay at Gigrin Farm Rhyader and see the Red Kites while your there, just a nice cycle ride from Elan Valley, plenty of places to eat in town.

The Smithfield market carpark as wizzer said or the main carpark although sloping a bit . Plenty of pubs in Rhayader with good food .
Enjoy

Its the Wiltshire Flag and shows a Bustard in the middle

Sorry missed your question, yes it is the hotel but has a bar and bar food.

In the end we couldn't be bothered to walk the short distance and we stopped in the van for a stir fry. Thanks for replying
