:mad:I have just received this from Voxi. I have been in France one week:
"Hello. Just to let you know, we're making an important change to how you use your phone while you're abroad. From 27th May 2022, you'll need to purchase one of our new European Roaming Passes to use your plan in our European Roaming Zones. These are available from £2 a day, or £1 a day if you purchase an 8 or 15 day pass. A fair use policy of 20GB applies to data while roaming. For more info about this change, and our new European Roaming Passes, please visit https://help.voxi.co.uk/1787185942"
Another negative courtesy of Brexit.

No need to mention the B word. This is a negative courtesy of Voxi. Neither SWMBO on O2 or myself on Vodaphone, as existing customers, need to pay for roaming.

The poor old phone companies are not making much money so they have introduce a £2 day fee if you are traveling in Europe.:swear2::swear2:
I'll soon be moving to a new phone company that don't charge :drinks:

We have just had 3 months in Spain and did not have to pay roaming charges We are with virgin mobile.

At least our France trip will be over by then. May have to explore local sim for September.

On Vodafone you may get away with it until your current contract expires…..then you pay ;-)

I'm alright for a couple of years then I'll see whats available then. In the worst case I can just get a foriegn sim.

It seems that they will all be charging soon or will restrict data use. EE has introduced a £2 day roaming charge, or £10 a month which seems to be prorata after 30 days. The usage seems to be 50GB as long as your contract us not less than this. When contracts run out on Three there will be a daily charge. I am not making any political points here but just the factual one that these restrictions and charges are as a result of the UK leaving roaming agreements in the EU.

If our own government wanted to pass a law that was equivalent to the EU roaming agreement they could do it easily with their massive majority. Is that political?

Vodafone do have some new tariffs that include roaming. I have the Unlimited Max + 4 extra benefits plan which has
“You can roam at no extra cost in 83 destinations worldwide on selected plans, that’s more roaming destinations than any other UK network. And you can use 5G in more places across Europe than any other network. Inclusive roaming data on all unlimited plans has a 25GB roaming fair use policy.”

Have you seen the thread below for SIMs that work in any Zone 1 country and give 300gb of data for just under €40 per month. Many of us are using them now, including me. You can also 'park' your SIM if you won't be using it for a while. Take a look, it may be a good solution for you. Hope this helps :)
